I used to be like this up until the last 2 or so years. Part of it was realizing that a lot of foods I thought were awful was just that my parents were shitty cooks.

It's not an offensive flavor. For example, I love beef jerky, deer jerky, etc, but sometimes when I eat beef jerky it makes me feel like throwing up.

For onions, I don't love or hate them, I don't mind their taste or texture, but they make me feel weirdly sick whenever I can even mildly taste them. And unlike jerky, it happens without fail, every time I taste them.

Also I just avoid dishes altogether whenever I see the word onion in them. Sometimes that doesn't work and it's unavoidable.
>out for quick dinner while vacation in Mexico

>Part of it was realizing that a lot of foods I thought were awful was just that my parents were shitty cooks.
So much of this going on in the world. Last time I had a cousin come to my house, and when he saw I made fish, he said "Huh, I don't usually like fish, but I'll try".
he thought it was absolutely delicious and he said that his mother, who is a usually good cook, couldn't make fish for shit.

don't know if immature, but i don't know shit about alcohol other than vodka and rum, so i never dare order any fancy drinks. i know muh beer pretty well, tho. i like to try new things, but half of the times I'm eating out i always order the same shit afraid that i might not like the new stuff/don't get the same level of satisfaction from it

Bean sprouts, shellfish, mushrooms and cheese are my four major food turnoffs. Bean sprouts are a mystery because I'll only eat them if they're fresh and crunchy and not disgustingly mushy, while the other two are weirdly chewy. Cheese is only used in 'foreign' cuisine so it doesn't matter that much.
I'd pretty much eat anything else, though.

No, they taste like vegetables.

My immature checklist
>do not eat almost any vegetables
>need a shitton of milk and sugar to even make instant coffee drinkable
>chug Mountain Dew at all hours
>cannot even be in the same room with sauerkraut without gagging
>only eat some foods in combination with some other foods: whipped potatoes if and only if there's canned corn, beans need rice to remove bean texture
>alcohol experience is basically "get something with a high ABV and mix it with Pepsi until all I taste is Pepsi and all I get is drunk"

Onions overpower everything? They are a magnificent base, capable of absorbing and enhancing any flavour. Onions don't overpower anything unless you are a terrible cook.
