No matter which one you get, either get them in plain water or plain oil. The flavored ones are full of shit and you can easily add flavorings yourself.

What's a good way to consume sardines? Sandwich? In tomato sauce tossed with pasta? I've never had sardines before. Are they similar to anchovy in flavor?

>> No.6455053

>>6454337
Agreed but they're smoked then packed in oil. So it's still oil or water?

Given that they're not very expensive you should experiment, but on some Italian bread, not really a sandwich but open faced, or on some crackers like Saltines, I like them on pasta sometimes. Sure you can put them into the sauce.

They're not like anchovys, anchovys are much saltier. I like getting two or three slices of plain pizza and putting the sardines on that, I like that a lot more than anchovies which I find too salty for my taste.

I've been watching some recipes and I could really add some fish into my diet every once in a while.

Yeah beach cliff is nasty. Even "expensive" sardines are still crazy cheap, there is no reason to eat that crap.

Are the Bar Harbor sardines any good? I'll be driving past whole foods tomorrow on the way to the jobsite, tempted to check them out for sardines.

If the Bar Harbor sardines are good then I'll place a bulk order on them and their herring and eat them for lunch.

Makes me think back to growing up and sitting on the stoop with my dad eating sardines and crackers. Always sardines in tomato sauce and saltines.

The bones in canned salmon are good for you too. They'll give your hair a nice healthy sheen over time.

They're soft like the sardine bones. The bones in sardines are so soft and small that even if one was sharp it wouldn't scratch the roof of your mouth, a dorito can do that but a sardine bone, no chance.

It took me a minute to find that scoop. How come the scoop's not on the sardine plate?

I look for things from Portugal or Morocco. I find that going by country is generally better than brand. Portugal is pretty god tier in the canned fish game.

Anchovies are more of an ingredient. You can do sardines on toast or crackers. That's a good snack. I like them in hot sauce or mustard depending on the mood.
