Our lunch periods in school were 10:43 (worst lunch period. wtf), 11:17, and 12:20. Yes, one group got a much longer group than the other. And one group was forced to eat their tuna sammich or whatever in the morning, and go hungry the rest of the day.

School in America is so fucked, that it let this type of scheduling happen. Of course they don't even try to provide good meals.

I remember the earliest lunch period at my school was 10:15 and the latest was 1:15 and we had an a/b cycle with block scheduling up until my junior year.

As a sophomore, I had the 10:15 period on A days and the 1:15 on B days. I was either starving by the time I got my food on B days or still full enough from breakfast to not want food on A days, in which case I'd be starving by the time I got home anywhere between 3 and 5 depending on sports/clubs :/

My senior year, they did open a "snack line" from 2:30 until 3:00 to try and fix some of that issue, but my god block scheduling was terrible.

Let me explain. Public schools are basically daycares. The poor get free school lunches, while the white kids and middle class bring their own. This means the lunch program has hardly any money going into it, since the whites don't buy into it most of the time. So the qaulity is as shit as possible while being passable.

Almost all upper middle class families, at least where I live (household income over 100k) send their kids to a catholic / private school. Which costs about 10-20k a year, and the really nice ones 30-50k a year. The lunches there are of course 10x better and made/planned by a "chef".

spending the ~15k a year basically guarantees your child a scholarship to a nice college and real prep education.
