Fair enough.

I'm asian so we eat a lot of rice so a rice cooker is a justifiable purchase.

I've got a little 3 cup (dry max) Fuzzy Logic Zojirushi cooker I got from my mom. Shits great. Perfect rice every time and all you do is press a button. Even entry level Fuzzy Logic models are pretty good, you don't need to spend over $100 to get a good cooker these days. Sure there are other fancy methods but good old electric fuzzy logic makes better rice than a stove ever would. As an asian who grew up with more expensive rice cookers I can say my cheap fuzzy logic is just as good if not better. The only thing the cheaper models lack is extra functions, but if your broke and just making fucking rice who needs that other shit.

I get ya but for me I work 11 ish hours a day and a rice cookers helps me make large batches of rice while I prepare my veggies and meat, plus I can use the leftover rice for either fried rice or other dishes when I get home. You could attribute it to being lazy but after work my brain feels like it's been fried and needs to reboot

How do i cook rice without a rice cooker, my parents had one but I don't live with them now everytime i cook it in a pan it fucks up.

do all the steps you normally do
but instead of putting it in the rice cooker you put it in a pot
turn the heat to low and put a lid on it
check and stir occasionally

So how much water, and does that mean its not supposed to boil?

two cups of water for every cup of rice, except for rices like sushi rice, which you add water 1:1
yes, you want it to boil.

Thanks I'll give that a go tommorow, I think my issue was not adding enough water and not putting a lid on either.

Fucking love my Zojirushi 10-cup micom. 95% of the time, I'm eating entirely made meals from that thing.

Rice (imported Japanese rice), locally grown and frozen vegetables from a farmer's market, and some kind of protein (tofu, thinly sliced choice cuts of beef, etc).

Absolutely glorious.

I have that one too. It's really cute and nice and I like that you can unplug it and bring it to the table. It's really good for oatmeal too.
