Because I can be a clinical dietitian and make more money without the long hours or job market volatility.

I don't want to be a chef. I'm trying to teach myself to cook because I'm a fatass.

I just got my first job in a restaurant. It's an Asian fusion place, but it's really mainly a sushi restaurant. I work both kitchen and sushi, but it looks like I might be doing sushi full time soon which would kick ass. Hope to work here for a year or two to gain experience and then move to an actual city so I can make decent money.

I was just wondering this myself the other day, OP. I decided that
>I'm 21 and already over halfway through college. It's too late for me to change my path
>I don't want the enjoyment of my one constructive hobby that I'm actually good at being sapped because I do it for a living.
>I have enough anger issues as is
>I'm fat and lazy and don't relish 10-hour shifts on my feet
>I want to be able to go out to eat and enjoy it
>I'd prefer my lifetime career to be one that pays well enough for me to live a comfortable(ish) life and save for retirement.
>I'd want to be able to actually use the skills and talent I develop while training to be a professional chef, not wind up being head chef at some chain family restaurant forever. (Not that I don't expect the equivalent from any other career, but it would be more tolerable than serving shit food forever)
>too many hipsters in the food industry

Because I know my tastes are shit and I don't want to inflict this pain on others.

If i did have a restaurant though, it would be called Chez Cheeze. You can guess why.

I've been a pastry chef for 14 years. It's like ez mode and typically low stress compared to most kitchen jobs.

The only thing that sucks is when the people that plate my stuff are incompetent. So sometimes I'm at work 18 hours a day because I need to be there for service and figure out who is a drug addled moron I need to fire. I don't know why like every millennial thinks it's fun to come to work stoned.

unless you were born prior to about 1980, you are a millennial.

I'm enjoying my day off after working 74 hours in 5 days. Being a chef is awesome, I'm also an alcoholic and have no life. I'm exhausted after my week at work so I usually sleep in till noon, order a pizza and do fuck all until I decide to get out of the house for a few hours and go drinking.

>> No.6414322

don't wanna be, fuck 14 hour days and boorish uneducated coworkers.

>> No.6414332

I'm jealous of every one of you. I work 36 hours at most, as I'm the only one not on a salary. All I want to do is get my seal and work at a nice place for long hours but no, I get this morning bullshit.

>boorish uneducated coworkers
But that's the most fun part of working in a kitchen. It's like working on a pirate ship or something. Lots of really crazy people screaming and busting each others balls.

Civilized kitchens are more common these days, but they're boring.

i just don't have the temperament fto spend so much time in that environment.
