What do you think of Redd's Apple Ale? I tried some recently, and it was pretty good. Not great, but okay. I'm not much of a drinker, and I tend to lean toward pussy drinks like the Smirnoff malt liquors, but Redd's Apple Ale got me thinking that apple flavored drinks may be my thing.

>does it suck?
Why?

>Is it swill?
Why?

>Are there better apple drinks?
>That don't taste like stale piss?
>Ale? Hard cider?
Recommend me some, fuckers.

Educate me /ck/

I'm with you, it's -okay- but not particularly good. Angry Orchard seems to be the ubiquitous good cider brand, I'd try that.

What the fuck are you asking? If you like it then drink it. I like Smith & Forge and Strongbow. Unibroue makes a really good apple ale called Ephemere as well, I would recommend that above any other cider or apple ale.

Strongbow, not the bastardized American crap, is great.

I make my own cider, it's not hard really. Look for JK's scrumpy cider, it's proper cider that can be found in the states.

Woodchuck Hard Cider, OP.

Do it.

>> No.6410598

I like hard cider

especially the scrumpy-ish ciders that are really apple-y.

I have a hard time imagining an apple flavored beer tasting good though

>alcoholic apple drinks

The word you are looking for is cider.
IMO most cider tastes way too sweet for drinking more than a half of. My favourite with this in mind is strongbow, not sure if you can get it in Ameriland.
Alternatively cider is much easier to ferment than beer, you just need a strong yeast, sugar and apple juice and standard brewing vessels.
Pic related is two bottles of an experimental 1L spiced cider batch.

18-24 grams of sugar per bottle, of course the women like it.

Id recommend any cider that comes in a wine style bottle if you are from Burgerland, preferably something that lists the apple variety used. Pretty much everything that comes in a six pack is 1 tier above zima or mikes hard.

<pic related, look for something like this. Should run 10-20 per bottle.

Any booze with a lot of sugar is shit to me. Mostly because of the hangover attached to sickly sweet alcohol.

Not since Heineken came in and changed the recipe to more suit pleb tastes. The flavor now is too sweet and watery.

All the commercial ciders I've tried in the US have been way too sweet. But luckily it's super easy and cheap to make dry cider at home.

I couldn't find it in my town until a few weeks ago and goddamn, I can't get enough.

I brew my own and can't comprehend how they can get so much grapefruit flavor into it while still keeping the beer/ipa backbone.

Victory at sea also blew my mind.

Just stopping in to tell everyone living in the Minneapolis area to go check out Sociable Cider Werks. Cider breweries are fucking great.

I've probably had over 100 different ciders now that I think about it. For the most part it was because I was at a craft place and wanted something light and refreshing to start or finish. To me, Woodchuck is a little too sweet but I do prefer sweet ciders over the tart ones.

JK Scrumpy's is good, Kelly's Magner's, Somersby is pretty much a soda but it has its place. Crispin's The Saint is probably my favorite.
