why do people complain so much about american cheese?
in some countries (japan, Korea) it's used often in cooking at home because its inexpensive

i like them as a cheap source of dairy/protein, and they melt better in toasties/burgers/etc than any other cheese you slice, even shit people rave about like gruyere

bought a 24 pack of cheese singles, a dozen eggs and a kg of bacon, gonna be having bacon egg and cheese toasties for the next week

i'm actually a bit underweight atm, just trying to spend as little on food as i can until i get a job
subsequently, i go for things like those that are tasty and keep me full
i spent $15 on all that and a loaf of bread and it should be my food for the next week, with oats for breakfast

also, anyone got any other ideas for cheap and tasty toasties?
was thinking of doing tuna melts with tuna and sriracha+mayo

>i like them as a cheap source of dairy/protein

They're a terrible source of both "dairy" and protein.

>> No.6409441

It's not terrible, but it isn't particularly good either. I usually go for a mild cheddar over American cheese.

I hate my dad and watch the animes all day Japan is the superior culture because they cater to my childish fantasies with their visual media. Why do these baka gaijin not understand that even processed cheese products of japan are superior to their american counterparts?!???!?!?!

why would you actually ever buy those? i feel like you're talking out your ass, unless you're a jaded weeb who used to shop at japanese markets 24/7 and became disillusioned by shitty fake cheese.

>why do people complain so much about american cheese?
I wouldn't complain about it, but I'd never buy it, and generally avoid eating it. It's emblematic of an entire class of industrially produced foods that are severely degraded versions of good things, in this case cheddar cheese. I like cheddar cheese, but not so much as to eat a bad version of it. When I'm gonna eat cheese I'd rather spring for the good stuff, otherwise I'll eat something else.

Real cheese tastes 100x better and melts just as well.

If you can't get an aged cheese as simple as a mature cheddar to melt properly you should probably give up cooking.

That shit is not American Cheese. It's "Kraft individually sliced pasteurized prepared cheese product" or some knock-off of it.

I mean, there's process cheese in Japan, but I feel like "mozzarella" (like the rubbery kind in the US) cheese is just as, if not more more commonly used.

Process cheese is fine for melting, but not terribly complex in its flavor. I like it on breakfast sandwiches.

shaved ham and cheese

if you buy some sundried tomato or capsicum hummus, you can line toasties with it
You can use blue cheese for maximum delicious, but be wary of molten cheese leaking out.

roast beef/pastrami/various salamies make fucking delicious toasties.
