Why the hate for Panda Express?

Is it because it's a chain? $7 for 3 items (fill out a survey receipt) is pretty good that lasts two meals. When it comes to Americanized chinese, they do it pretty well and fresh if your place is busy.

The Panda Express here is good. Food is fresh all through the day, up until around closing time. Ironically, its the only one I've seen that has no Mexicans or Asians working at it at all.

Tried that, in low quantities like a soup with msg I get the shits nothing too bad, the water levels in my gi tract get fucked up basically and get expelled way to quick and it takes around 2 days for it to stop. Last time it was ever that bad I was literally just leaking this almost clear fluid from my asshole and puking up some chyme. After hitting up some local steam-tray Chinese places, I find I don't like the flavors at Panda Express as much. Too much celery in the lo mein, too much carrot in the fried rice, too...ugh, I can't place the orange chicken taste, but it's not citrus in the way I want it to be.

It's fast food. Absolutely loaded with salt and sugar. Made to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Treat it the same way you would McDonald's. An occasional treat but totally unhealthy and not a particularly good representation even of Americanized Chinese food.

In that context, there's nothing wrong with Panda Express. As long as you know what it is, and don't think any more of it.

Went to one here in Mexico City. I prefer eating in those chinese fastfood with real chinese people cooking.

I don't know if this happens in U.S. but, there are LOTS of Chinese fastfood in Mexico City. Every plaza has one of them. There is one plaza that even has three different locals.

It's one of the few fast food places I frequent because you can actually choose to eat relatively healthy. I get brown rice and steamed veggies as my sides and an order of Teriyaki Chicken. According to their caloric count, I'm at 760 calories, and I'm full, and it's less than $7.00.

Worked at a Panda Express for about a year.
Northern FL in a really busy/rich shopping mall type area.
We had a drive-thru and were generally packed for pretty much all day except between 3-5pm.
To the point that even three or four cooks were needed to keep up with the high rush of customers. Fresh, yes. We weren't supposed to serve boxes with over 7oz of food. Stingy, yes. Overpriced? Only if you're a fatty and want like four things. Rice and a meat for 6$ should be the standard really.
