What is your go-to spice trifecta, /ck/?

Mine is,

2 parts cumin powder
1 part black pepper powder
1 part cayenne pepper powder

Shake in a jar to mix, use in pepper shaker. Use as your normal pepper shaker.

Trifecta of spices would be 3 spices blended together, as the name implies.

I just gave a friend a big bottle of curry powder. It was an off brand and I have had it too long anyway. I need to get a small bottle of mix my own, probably the latter.

The spice blend in the OP is god tier in just about everything. Including these pepperoni-Brussels sprouts rolls I just made.

curry powder, old bay, and blak pepper. Use it as dry rub on chicken before grillin

>curry powder
>Most curry powder recipes include coriander, turmeric, cumin, fenugreek, and chili peppers in their blends.

>old bay
>The seasoning mix includes mustard, paprika, celery salt, bay leaf, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, mace, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, cardamom, and ginger.[2]

>+black pepper

I can't even imagine what that'd taste like. What proportions are these 3? Just shake-shake each or do you measure, mix then shake?

About 7 parts curry, 7 parts old bay, 2 parts black pepper.

Taste is hard to describe. Quite good, though. I usually top it with some bbq sauce when I grill it, but its also good baked.

I suggest you try it, you'll be surprised.

And, thus, it shoots off into a flavor profile that obviously can't be described. I live in an area that has no Old Bay for sale. I'd have to order it online or mix my own. The later wouldn't work since I've never had it before.

Cajun seasoning is about the closest thing that I use as an all-purpose seasoning. I think salt, black pepper, red pepper, garlic, and butter go great with most dishes. A cajun seasoning like Slap Ya Mama is just salt, black pepper, red pepper, and garlic powder. From there, you can start adding ground thyme, onion powder, paprika, bay leaf, etc. to get the rest of the Cajun flavors. Or just buy another brand of cajun seasoning.

My mom was one of those cooks that put Lawry's seasoned salt in or on EVERYTHING savory. Chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, burgers, steaks, fried pork chops, mashed potatoes, spaghetti...you name it. I always have a bottle of it around and like to add it to some things, but please don't do that to your family. Go for the cajun seasoning because they'll be happier.

That is standard seasoning fare where I live. People don't even know what "Cajun seasoning" is here either.

I prefer mixes that don't include the salt. That gives me better control over the salt and spice pairing.

trifecta? Garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper. I have a giant dried spice collection - I don't have enough spice racks to hold them all, and no more room to put up another spice rack. Damn small kitchen in tiny ass apartment.
