But, how sanitary are they? My mom always told me the drivers never cleaned them and would always prefer small, latino trucks instead of normal soft served ones

whaat, I don't think i've ever seen a truck serve soft-serve. I've always seen them as just a cooler full of a million different branded ice cream popsicles. So it doesn't matter how dirty it is, it just holds packaged items.

I think soft serve trucks are only on the northernish East Coast, from Virginia to Maine.

I've never seen them in the Midwest or Mountain states. I've never been to the west coast during the warm months, so I don't know what they do there.
