Lots of good cooking shows are all over at the Create network, PBS secondary channel stuff (gotta check your cable listings). Ming, Yan, Julia, Pepin, Sara Moulton, Stephen Raichlen and other oldies, plus John Besh, Keller and other actual top chefs.esp a lot of farm to table little shows popping up with good history.

He's smart and certainly knows how to grow some yummy plants and make the foods of mexico, but yea, he has a ton of creep-factor. He's got his high-pitched midwest accent plus too skinny for a chef, plus the red hair thing...all works against him. Anyway, I like Pati's crazy accent better. Seen her show? Not always a menu I'd repeat like his stuff, but fun.

They still have actual cooking shows, just not in prime time anymore. Cooking Channel also still airs cooking shows, but the best ones are on Saturday mornings, that bloc has Avec Eric, Eric Ripert's joint.

meh it already helped aid my passion for and knowledge about cooking when I started constantly watching it like 14 years ago so now I don't mind flopping on the couch when I get home from work and watching all-star academy or something.

Honestly a lot of the actual cooking shows are boring to me now because as soon as they say what they're going to make I usually can already predict almost exactly what they end up making. That makes me feel like a dirty, horrible person though because a cooking channel really should be more about cooking.
