No, it goes like this;

Get beer and drink throughout the process below
Gather up a lot of firewood
Get a campfire going before noon
Let it burn for an hour or so to preheat the dirt underneath
Wrap a turkey in aluminum foil, followed by wet newsprint paper

I pretty firmly believe this, but because I'm one of the privileged. A less privileged person might read that and think, "That may be true for some people, but not for me."

Let me walk you through an example. Say you're a talented cook who wants to do your own thing and open your own restaurant. The start up costs are huge. A privileged person can get a loan from a bank, or tap wealthy family/friends, or maybe even round up some investors to get the business off the ground. An equally talented but less privileged cook will have a much more difficult time raising startup capital, if they can do it at all. So for the less privileged person the idea is more of a fantasy than an actual possibility.

Privilege is not just about what possibilities you have open to you, it's also about being able to see possibilities where others would just see fantasies.

It is and remains a choice. You do have control over it. Now is it easy to make the choice to ignore your own biases? No, it's not. It's far easier to blame some external factor. One's ego can far better handle "I didn't get the job because I'm a woman and they can't stand to see a powerful woman" than "I didn't get the job because I'm a genuinely unpleasant person to be around and maybe should work on fixing that before I try to get a position based off of sociability".

But I stand by my point that believing you can actually accomplish ambitious things comes with privilege. I grew up being told I could do anything I wanted. I believed it. If I were to list the things I've accomplished in my life so far I'd be accused of making shit up, because the list is pretty long. I'll just stick to the food related part. I've been:
a wine salesman
a restaurant consultant
a published food writer/restaurant critic.

That's in addition to a far more glamorous career I won't go into here.

Yet I can still piss away an afternoon on 4chan if I choose to. Why? Because I was brought up believing I could do whatever I wanted to. And I've made that work for me.

Tell that to someone who is not particularly privileged and they will not believe it, because from where they're sitting it sounds like a fantasy at best, and a lie at worst. I've known a few rags to riches types, and they're always highly competitive people. But most folks I know who have accomplished noteworthy shit came from a background that helped set them up for it.

I'm actually currently working in the Bakken, and even with WTI trading at around $50/bbl, everyone is pulling back on all phases of lease development. Haliburton is seriously invested in fracking, so this isn't a good thing for them (WTI needs to trade at around $65/bbl for production to ramp back up), but Baker Hughes is actually still a good purchase because they have a much wider selection of services that they excel in (notably directional drilling)and it puts them firmly in second place behind Schlumberger.

So basically, it'll come back and strong, but not until oil goes back up. If you're in it now, I'd hold on if I wasn't worried about liquidity for the next seven or so months.

I'd hold on until after it goes back up. We're going to see $100/bbl again, and when that happens, they're going to be making stupid money again. Production will be sped up in both the Bakken and the Eagle Ford. They also recently sent some crews to China to frac over there.

It's just all part of the boom and bust cycle of the oil and gas industry. The thing to watch is the price of WTI (west Texas intermediate). One it gets and stays above 65/bbl, you'll see fracking start up again.
