if something as popular as chocolate were to face such a fate compounds that could fool trained super tasters would be developed

Actually they already exist; trained tasters say the disease resistant stuff tastes horrible, but they developed methods to process it so that the average consumer doesn't know the difference.

Which raises the question: does it even matter?

>>6323723

Real chocolate is already pretty expensive in first world countries; what you people get at Whole Foods and the mall Godiva can barely even be considered chocolate and I honestly feel sorry for those of you who think you've even tasted chocolate.

Pretty pretentious of someone who whines about the price of candy

I don't know I never really liked chocolate.
I'm not talking about rubbish candybars, I've had Belgian Chocolate before.
I mean yeah its tasty, but I'm more of a savory person. I have like a few bites of chocolate and that's about it.
You know gets me fucking crazy?

America will never notice because they don't have real chocolate in America. They have Hershey's and Mars.

Are you me? I've always been pretty "eh" towards chocolate. I mean, it's good and everything, but I don't even really like it as a solid bar. I think my favorite chocolate applications are hot fudge and chocolate milk.

dark chocolate that's not really sweet is like a cup of black coffee. that you brewed with butter instead of water.

>> No.6325432

>>6324121

It's a simple fact that chocolate is a luxury product, same as fish or meat.

The mass produced garbage you shovel down your throat every day to satisfy your overwhelming desire to feel full all the time isn't. Pink slime isn't meat, and hershey's kisses aren't chocolate.

Sorry you have trouble understanding this.

Since when has cocoa been going extinct?

>> No.6325512

>>6325497

It's not going extinct, but the good tasting cultivars are getting wiped out on a massive scale by a fungus and the replacements getting planted are bad tasting high yield trees. The beans from those trees are mixed with what's left of the good stuff.
