What's the best widely available American Lager? I've only had Budweiser and it has a weird metalicish taste to it. It could have been the fact I had the shitty watered down stuff from Wal-Mart, but still.

I used to buy Yuengling pretty regularly and it was my go to, but it's not available in the state I've moved to.

When it's shitty beer I think it's all preference really. I enjoy Miller Lite and hate Coors/Bud Light. I love PBR and Coors Banquet, but hate Bud and High Life. There's no real reason to it at that level of quality, it just boils down to Coke v Pepsi levels of gut reaction.

That said, Sam Adams Boston Lager or Amberbock are probably going to be the best subs for based Yuengling.

Yeah, I live in Southwest FL about two hours South of their brewery in Tampa. I've always had fresh, cheap Yuengling available at literally every bar, liquor store, gas station whatever so I've taken it for granted. No plans to move away any time soon, but damn would I miss some Yuengling and Publix if I did.

I like bottled MGD as far as macrobrews go. Sometimes I'll buy a coors banquet beer. That being said, just find a microbrew with a higher alcohol content. You can usually get a higher ABV that will cancel out the additional cost if you're just looking to get drunk.

I fucking love Harpoon. I bought some expired Leviathan in Fall River and sent them a message to tell them the store had a lot of outdated Harpoon product and they sent this as a response. I took my girlfriend for an on the house 5 beers in the beer hall, two pretzels, a free tour, and not three four packs - but a case of Leviathan. Easily my favorite brewery experience.

I take home a growler of the 100 Barrel Series every time something new comes out. Harpoon, despite being really big, is one of the most underrated in my opinion.
