Let's say they're good biscuits. Homemade, from-scratch, fluffy buttermilk biscuits.

Gravy's homemade too. Sausage is fresh and local.

I kinda like some fast food varieties too though. Dairy Queen has a decent biscuit and gravy plate for cheap.

Why would anyone make frozen country gravy? It's the easiest shit in the world.

>Sausage drippings
>Flour
>Milk
>Black pepper

I could make that in my sleep.

I can deal with meh biscuits more than meh gravy

Well, yeah. Good gravy will make even crummy biscuits taste pretty good.

Also works for crummy potatoes, crummy scrambled eggs, and crummy fried chicken.

Let's be honest with ourselves.

There are frozen biscuit dough brands that produce huge fluffy biscuits with an awesome yeasty, buttermilk flavor.

The first time my sister served them, I didn't know they were frozen. I thought she was kidding when she told me. This is coming from someone who grew up with homemade biscuits.

S'true. You just gotta find the right brand.

I've had homemade biscuits that tasted like shit too. Don't know what my great aunt does to them but they come out hard and dry and crusty.

Ain't no excuse to not make your own gravy though as long as you're cooking sausage. It's so easy that it hurts.

What's the best brand for frozen buttermilk biscuits?

Pilsbury, if I recall correctly. I've found some no-name brands that were great too.

From the south and we're lucky to have Hardee's. Their Biscuits and Gravy are God Tier. Homemade is always best though. Brings me to funny story.

>local Hardee's remodels restaruant
>my first visit since reopening
>decide to go in cuz drive thru line is insane
>get to counter
>mostly the same employees, few new faces
>fat black chick takes my order
>"yeah i'll have a gravy biscuit please."
>she sits there for literally 3 minutes punching buttons
>she finally turns to her co-worker "is a gravy biscuit the same thing as a biscuit and gravy?"

yup.

i have always wanted to try biscuits and gravy, ever since i saw mention of them in an ed edd and eddy episode. i still find the idea bizarre.

That was my wake up call visting my grandfather. He'd fry up sausage he bought from a local farmer, cook up eggs from his hen house, make the best biscuits from scratch, then make up gravy with the drippings.

If biscuits are not handmade by your grandmother, yourself, or by some old nigger woman cooking at a diner, then they probably are not that good.

i know. didn't know it when i was a kid though.

it's not just the combination that i find weird, it's also the concept of the milky gravy with bits of sausage in it. i fully expect it to be delicious it's just nothing i've ever seen before.

>> No.6288460

After I was a junkie and did two years in prison I got sent to this place called fresh start. I'll never forget the cook who loaded up his sausage gravy with garlic and made me almost puke. Also, the powdered milk. I guess I deserved it.

If its milky, then someone dun fucked up.

>> No.6288510

>>6288456

I can understand that.

Anyway, though it has milk in it, the gravy itself is not 'milky'. It should be thick and creamy with a strong taste of pepper and sausage.

It's delicious. I've never known anyone who didn't think it was delicious. The biggest hurdle to people who find it unusual is just the look of it. I understand if it doesn't look particularly appetizing.

Of course, I grew up with the stuff. I think it looks delicious no matter what.

The only people I've seen hate it are those who hate mashed potatoes and mayo.

one of my favorite things in the world. Gotta be spicy sausage gravy tho.
