That's not real, the handwriting doesn't match. And I mean, taking into account the tilt of the lettering, the way the letters are formed, etc. It's another ruse.
Although, I do believe that this happens. I used to be a server in college, and we had lots of non tippers who gave some dumb excuse as to why they couldn't/wouldn't tip. I never did anything bad to their food, BUT, the kitchen staff would try to (if you have a good relationship with the kitchen, they get mad when servers get stiffed too). I remember when the grill guy wanted me to take a woman's steak out after he dropped it on the floor because he knew she was shit tipper, but I refused. I may have hated the non tippers, but I do have standards of my own.

My uncle is black and whenever we go out to eat out, he puts a $100 bill on the table and tells the waiter/waitress at the beginning that every time they do something he doesn't like he will take away $10. He says he does this because it's the only way to get good service as a black man. Throughout the meal, he takes away $10 just to keep the waiters on hteir feet even if they didn't do anything. I worked as a busboy and food runner for a few months and hated it when people did this. Why gives them the nerve to tell me how to do my job? I don't tell them how to do there's.
