CTfag here. Yep. Been to Pepe's, Sally's, Modern, and Zuppardi's over in West Haven.

All are excellent, though each is best at different things. For bacon and onion, I'd go to Pepe's; for sausage, I'd go to Zuppardi's; for "plain" (no mozz) I'd go to Modern or Sally's, though Modern's spinach and garlic is also great.

I hit CT after a few day in NYC (it was a pizza tour), and I gotta say, Modern was shit tier. Greasy pies, with canned mushrooms. Pepe's white clam pizza made it all worth it, one of the best pies on the goddamn planet. Holy shit I have to go back.

Frank Pepe's white clam pizza is seriously delicious. I pity the people who don't like clams or haven't had it. I could go for some right now.

Yeah, I live around new haven area. Never been to Sally's, but I prefer Pepe's over Modern and Bar.
The white clam pizza is a very new england-y taste, but goddamn if it isn't amazing. Love the margherita pizza there too.
If I'm actually getting a pizza with toppings (sausage + onions & peppers is top tier) I usually go to a local place.

I wish I actually liked clams, or any seafood, then I could enjoy a lot more of what this region has to offer. As it is I'm stuck pining for KC brisket and Iowa pork chops. They do great polish and italian sausages here though.
