If you enjoy Michelin Star-Worthy tasting menus comprised of perfectly cooked and seasoned taste buds pleasers paired with mouth watering world renowned wine and served in perfect synchrony by a first class wait staff that will not miss a step of their perfectly choreographed moves, than this place is for you - just make sure you wear a jacket and pair it with your best dress shoes. You will get a personalized menu, with your name on it, that you get to keep as a souvenir to reminisce down the line about the best meal and dining experience of your life. The portions are very small but outstanding in flavor and very picturesque, so whether you eat with your stomach or your eyes, you are bound to be thoroughly satisfied. I will never forget what I had that night: Buffalo Carpaccio with Olives, Artichokes, and Chorizo Vinaigrette; Sake-Soy-Marinated Diver Scallop with Bok-Choy and Soy Beans; Brentwood Corn Soup with a Petite Crab Casserole; Autralian Kobe Beef Tenderloin with Smoked Garlic Potato Puree; Colston Bassett Stilton, Coach Farm Goat, Gouda Reypenaer V.S.O.P and Comte; lastly, for the grand finale, Tanzanie Chocolate Pyramid with a Champagne-Chambord Truffle. Both the food and the experience here are not comparable with any other place. In my opinion, the only place in the world that is more magical than Disney World is Victoria and Albert's Restaurant at the Grand Floridian. Pair a jacket with your best dress shoes, try not to eat much before going, and enjoy the best dining experience of your life.

When you call in advance they ask you what kind of foods you like and you get a personalized menu with your name on it. It's part of the Victoria & Albert's dining experience and it only costs a meager surcharge of $40.

I've never heard of it either. I looked it up and:
(a) It's in Florida, hell no
(b) It's in fucking Disneyland

WTF? This looks like it's for haggard parents who dumped their kids off at the day care for their first night out on their own in a decade.

I bet the wine list actually has reviews of the wines on it. Assuming there's a wine list at all.

Been there many times. It's a great experience. Anyone who would criticize them obviously don't know shit. Sure it's expensive, but the service and food is top notch.

I have not been, but it appears to be a top flight restaurant, with many claiming it's the best in Orlando.

Serious question: of all the high end restaurants you could choose why pick one located at a Disney resort? I understand Florida is a cultural backwater (one of the "best" restaurants in the state is named YOLO), but are things there so bad that your only safe bet for a high end meal is in a Disney park? Or are you just a Disney fan?

Actually you are right, my parents never took me to Disneyland when I was a kid. Instead we went climbing or camping or canoeing or traveled overseas and stayed in traditional lodging while eating traditional food to learn about other cultures.

>wrong on all points

About the point that this is place is a bad, corporatized parody of a 1990s fine dining establishment aimed at people who need to have their hands held so they won't get too culturally intimidated by concepts like using a napkin, or holding a glass by the stem, thereby resulting in a bad review on tripadvisor? No, I'm willing to admit that this is based on a superficial impression, but you couldn't pay me to go there. Ok sorry actually yeah you probably could pay me. I'd probably go there for $300 plus travel expenses.

Well, at least that was a reasonably mature answer and I thank you for that. I wouldn't call it a "parody" . It is a excellent restaurant and I'll stand by that.

When you think 'Disney' you're thinking kiddie stuff. My parents took me and my siblings on a Disney cruise and the food they served at lunch and dinner for the adults/older kids was really gourmet stuff. Yeah, my seven year old brother got burgers and pizza and shit, but we were getting things like prosciutto-wrapped melons, grand marnier souffles, veal chops, fancy cheeses, etc. disney CAN do gourmet.

granted, it wasn't as fancy as my parents got me hyped for, but it was still really fucking good.

>> No.6207134

I have eaten here once, and its definitely overpriced.

I usually dont regret shelling $300-$500 bucks for a real fancy dinner, but I did for Victoria and alberts. They really try and jew you at every turn. Every little thing you order you can "upgrade" for a meager $75 (like for some caviar with your appetizer) or whatever other bullshit. I believe the total for two with their standard 5 course meal or whatever and a bottle or two of wine was $650 with tip.

If you want fine dining at disney world i highly recommend the blue zoo at the dolphin. Excellent seafood.

I don't understand why you would even want to go there.
So much shit can go wrong until May and I am 100% sure that the food, ambiance, drinks and whatever won't be worth that waiting time.
I actually don't even know what kind of place that is but I guess it's a restaurant.

It's amazing how mad you are about the fact that no one wants to eat disneyland food, let alone disneyland food that costs what nice food costs.

You're probably the kind of person who pays for electronic greeting cards.

No. I was thinking resort. A high end resort will provide high end meals, but at a premium price because the place is a resort. Victoria and Albert's looks like a high end new American restaurant. But it's in a resort.

My question was does one eat there because it's the best option around (resort is the only game in town for high end dining) or is it because of a general fondness for resorts?

Got it. This shit id foreign to me. Never been a cruise ship, casino, all inclusive resort or theme park guy. Always been more about local color, including seeing how the rich locals eat.

But it makes sense in Orlando, because the town is kind of built around the resort. Kind of like going to Montreux.

I'm kind of ignorant about Florida. Friends who live/d there have told me about it, and it doesn't sound very promising (except for parts of Miami). But it's one of the few states I haven't been to, so I suspend judgment.
