Where in America can you buy pre-made gyro meat? I know Aldi sells a gyro kit but the meat is so full of MSG it gives me splitting headaches.

a mediterranean restaurant.

Go to a gyro shop and buy one from them.

But it's just lamb and beef mixed together, along with some spices. And frying is a perfectly good substitute for the silly "put it on a spit and turn it past a heating element for six hours" thing.

shut up

Cut small chunks of the meat of choice and marinate it in smoked paprika, thyme, oregano, olive oil and cumin. Let it rest for a few hours or overnight ideally. Then grill it on skewers

go back to whatever shitty board you came from

GFS sells it in the frozen section. I think the brand is Athens. What you really want to find is Kronos brand though.

gyro have gross lamb with a mediocre sauce.

No stores in the US sells it outside of gyro kits
It pisses me off as well

I live in the US. The quality of the beef (except the highest grade stuff) and chicken here is so terrible that lamb is way better. They still haven't figured out how to fuck it up, I guess. Might not be the same in your country.

Do Americans really say these things, "This food has so much MSG in it".

This thread makes me sad because there's used to be 2 stores in a three mile radius of my house that sold pre made gyro meat in packs that you could just grill and eat, and both of the stores closed. BOO. Now I have make it myself, which is kind of a pain, so I don't do it very often, because it's just easier to buy a damn gyro.

which is weird, because lamb is ten times more flavourful.

Hate to tell you, but it's real for some people. I'm not one, but my mother is.

But don't let that stop you from being one of the shitposters here who constantly denies that anyone else's medical issues are real.

It's not premade, but I got pretty good results using the technique here http://www.seriouseats.com/2010/06/greek-american-lamb-gyros-homemade-from-scratch-the-food-lab.html

I suggest making real tzatziki for it though.

No it isn't, it's always a nocebo effect.
