Everytime I go to the US I make a fool of myself because I ask for menu items that are only available in Canada.

Some do, I worked at Jet's for a time and they sell slices most of the day until it gets super busy, but that's more of an uncommon chain...I'm not sure what others do this.

couple of days ago i wan at a Taco bell in michigan. It was my first time at a US location, so I kind of assumed they had the same items as their Canadian counterparts. I do admit, they had a lot of different things that I wasn't familiar with, but I thought they would have my most beloved taco bell item (fries supreme). so I asked for some soft tacos, a drink, and a fries supreme. the cashier looked at me funny and said they serve fries...I was a bit thrown aback because this was the first I've heard of Taco bell not having fries on their menu

Yeah, in the US fries are pretty much reserved for "American food" aka burger joints, while TB tries to pass itself off as having some connection to Mexico...I imagine in other countries Taco Bell is as American as McDs marketing wise.
