do you really think this is safe? they didnt design this plastic lid to withstand exposure to acidic vinegars and citrus or whatever else you are putting in your salad dressing. could be leaching plastic into your food

oh nevermind then

I was assuming mason jars like they use to can things, because that is what they always use on cooking shows

I eat salad a few times a year. I buy the stuff in the bottle, because I'm not a vegetarian loser.

>> No.6113959

Mason jar (half pint)
or small lock-and-lock bowl with lid.

Anything I can close and shake to emulsify.

Or a bowl + whisk or fork, depending on the dressing.

Nigga, I've been making salad dressing since I was three years old. They take five minutes max.
Basic recipe: 1:1:3:5, by volume*, garlic, prepared mustard, vinegar and oil, respectively. Grate the garlic into a paste, put it and everything else together into >>6114187, top it, shake it up, salt to taste and you're good to go. Add some crushed, dried herbs or ground spices, if you wanna go that route.

* in case you don't understand ratio, this means that for every 1X of garlic, you put 1X of mustard, 3X of vinegar and 5X of oil where X is any volumetric measure you'd like like quarter cups, litres, tablespoons or gallons. Whatever.
If using quarter cups, the recipe would be
Garlic, whole cloves, as many as can fit into ¼ cup
Mustard, prepared, ¼ cup
Vinegar, ¾ cup
Oil, 1¼ cup
Grate, pound or salt-paste garlic smooth.
Place all ingredients into a bottle and shake to combine.
Salt to taste. You can even go the lazier route and put the garlic and vinegar into the blender and blitz smooth before adding the mustard and the oil. That's what I do nowadays, anyway.
