I hadn't eaten at McD's for more than a decade. Today I decided to get my childhood favorite, a No. 1 w/six piece McNuggests. I just about shat my pants when I was told it was THIRTEEN FUCKING DOLLARS!

WTF? How in the hell can poor people afford to eat there?

Needless to say, there are a hundred different ways I can feed myself with $13, and from this day forward, McD's ain't on that list.

Where I am in mid-Michigan Big Macs' are $2, $1.79 Large Fries, and fuck fountain drinks. That's ~$3.91 when I literally NEED to go to mcdonalds because can't cook or on the go, plus I almost always have a buy one get one coupon that come on the back of event tickets around here in the car. personally I prefer Taco bell's dollar menu, or burger kings value menu.

Taco bell favorites:
Beefy fritos burrito (sometimes the chips are stale, which sucks)
Spicy potato soft taco (tastes way better than it should for being potatoes and lettuce in a tortilla, i think the sauce makes it)
Beefy mini quesadilla (cant mess up a quesadilla really)
and the limited time Crunchwrap sliders (blt slider a shit though, dont bother)

From Burger king:
Rodeo cheese burger (bbq with onion rings and cheese, it just works and tastes a hell of a lot better than the copycat from calrs jr)
Rodeo chicken sandwich (I didn't think they could improve on the rodeo cheesburger, but something about the crispy chicken brings out the flavor a lot better.)
2 tacos (may or may not be a buck depending on how mexican your area is. More mexican = 1.50)

I don't really eat fast food often at all anymore because the prices are getting rediculous, but everything I listed above is under $1.50 so you can go nuts for less money. And despite the 'lel taco bell diarrhea fuel' I haven't gotten the hershey squirts from taco bell yet. You just have to remember not to go to the ghetto ones and you'll be fine.

OP here, I didn't expect this thread to last two days. I bought my meal inside a Walmart in San Diego, CA. It was my first McD's purchase in a decade, and only my second visit to Walmart in my life (I bought ten bottles of cheap wine at $1.97 each for a party). The food tasted like I remembered, which means it was blah, and not something I've missed. The point of the post was the ludicrous cost, nothing more. Yes, I could have eaten off the dollar menu and saved money. But that would not have negated my craving for what I did order, a childhood memory. A memory that, it seems, no longer lives up to it's expectation. Neither of my kids, aged 7 and 10, consider McD's an option, thankfully. So, I simply will never darken the door of this establishment again. Too bad really, I am the exact demographic that cemented the company's hold on America. A cannot belive that I am the only one to come to this conclusion...
