what the fuck man how do you get used to beer taste?

i just had some sierra nevada pale ale and smaueml msmith oatmeal stout and they tasted like carbonated medicine. I'm drinking a tripel karmelieter right now and it tastes alright because it's like a subdued medicine taste

do I jkust need to drink more often? I'm drinking by myself and I just feel dizzy] and sleepy. should i drink more to get drunk or should I just get some taste? Also, i drank some mich st. chateau chardonnaty and it was okay. i honestly think i can only enjoy sugary drinks because america

After 15 years of moderate to heavy drinking I still dont like the taste of beer. It just isnt a bad taste anymore. You get used to it but that doesnt mean you will end up liking it. Try lots of things until you find what you like best.

Fuck beer, CCs and cola premixes actually taste good now, but its all down to the individual. Dont limit yourself to anything

Hometown bias aside, Pale Ale is one of the most drinkable beers available. In my experience, if you try all the different types of beer, you'll eventually find the one for you, whether it's a porter, stout, Ale, lager, etc

Sounds like you prefer malt to hops. Nothing wrong with that. Try a dubbel or some other belgian styles that emphasize malt over hops. (Basically anything other than the few styles that use Brettanomyces yeast to develop a completely bizarre funky flavor.)

And if you're not a beer person. Nothing wrong with that either. Try wines. Chardonnay? Nothin' wrong with that. You can get that stuff to taste like everything from butter to gravel (both pretty good). If you really want something sweet? Iunno, go for port?

The real question, Anon, is why you're drinking something that doesn't taste good. If you're at the stage where you need to get repeatedly drunk, you already know what you like to drink. (and you also probably oughta consider giving it up.)

But you don't sound like that. You sound like you're not trying to get drunk for its own sake, but that you're just trying to learn what drinks you like. Nothing wrong with being the wine guy at the bar. Or the Scotch guy. Or the malty-beer guy, or the lager guy, or the hophead. The deal with drinking is to do it in moderation, learn what you like, and learn how much you can drink of what you like. Drink for the taste, not to get drunk.

And if you don't like the taste and you don't want to get drunk, but just want to *look* like you're drinking? That's why they invented ginger ale and fizzy cider for champagne, or water for vodka. Or a Coke that you can claim is a rum and coke. No bartender in the world will think less of you for ordering as such.

You're drinking some higher tier beer, which kinda depends upon a more acclimated taste for beers to enjoy. While /ck/ may crucify me for this, start with the watered down horse piss of Budweiser/Miller/Coors/Keystone et al. By no means is popularity a measure of quality, but there's a reason freshmen retards nationwide chug that shit: it's easy to drink.

My advice is to start at the bottom: sample the most available brands of different varieties, then explore better quality options within that area. So if you find yourself liking Budweiser, start looking at other pale lagers too.

Exploring beer is kinda like learning an instrument. You can't just buy a Stradivarius and expect to be Vivaldi from nothing. You gotta take is slow, start small, and build up a sense for it little by little.

Fuck that's an awful simile. My point is the good shit isn't always easy to get into. They're called "ACQUIRED" tastes for a reason. You gotta be willing to put in the time, nigga.

You should drink more beer. It might take some time to get used to the taste. You also just might not like beer very much, which is fine.

Once you get used to the flavor of beer, it becomes a pleasure to drink. First beer was a Coors, and wasn't very good to me, even though Coors are really mild in flavor. Over the next few months I slowly continued to drink better beers. I finally happened upon this stuff called Polygamy Porter (Utah brew), and really really liked it. Now I have a taste for beer, and can discern the various flavors a lot more than I used to. I tried a Corona the other day, and it tasted like water.

They are. They aren't great, but they aren't horrible either. Hell, the biggest dig against American macros isn't bad taste, it's weak taste, which is a good thing for someone getting acclimated to the flavors in beer as opposed to Hoppinator's Hoptastic Hoppening Triple Bitter IPA with hints of ballsweat and lilac.

New beer drinkers trying micros are akin to starting someone on wine with the cabbiest, sweetest cab you can find. You're as apt to break them from ever enjoying it as not.

I've been trying beers for nearly three years now and I still can't stand the taste.

I tried a cider last year and holy shit it's good. I recommend cider to you OP. It's like a beer but instead of being bitter undrinkable piss it's got a nice crisp bite that isn't overpowering.

You can get pear cider which is quite sweet or many varieties of apple cider all differing ranges of sweetness.
