Somebody has been buying the old shitty bay leaves from the bulk section instead of the more fresh ones in the spice isle

Because not everyone can have a bay tree in their backyard to pick leaves off of.

When we were kids, my mom used to tell us that whoever gets the bay leaf in their bowl of soup is going to have good luck.

Naturally, that led me to think that eating bay leaves is even luckier. I'd put them in sandwiches and choke them down until my mom caught me and made me stop.

I once tried a bay leaf hot water infusion to see what bay leaf tasted like.

It was fucking disgusting and I've never used it in anything ever again,

The same goes for dishes with rosemary or thyme. If you're going to add herbs with stems, or something that is not great to eat, why not tie them shits together and fish them out?

That's like shoving a bunch of salt in your mouth and deciding not to use it.

Bay Leaves complement other flavors, and it takes a long time for everything to mingle which is why they're often used in stews.
