Hey /ck/, first time posting here

The other night was pretty much my first attempt at cooking something proper on my own as I've had the house to myself the last week and I didn't want to only be eating total junk. I made a couple of very basic cheeseburgers; burger buns, a beef patty, cheese and some barbecue sauce, and I think they were a success. The first patty I cooked was quite pink in the middle so I chucked it (probably stupidly) and tried to make another one. This one looked edible, but I was still a little concerned about the slightly pink meat in the middle. They were think patties. I was wondering if slightly pink meat on the inside of a patty is okay to eat? Or is it just best to leave it on stove as long as possible to ensure everything is totally cooked?

Thanks.

I used to have a job where I served about 200 rare burgers a day. If they were making people sick we would have been quickly shut down.

The only people that wanted them well done were Jews and black people. I'm not a racist, that's just the truth.

Make bean burgers. You will never have to worry about Food safety again.

I wish we could just tell Asians, Africans, and Jews to go to McDonalds.

It depends on if you activated the meat or not

I'm white and I love rare burgers--rare and raw meat and seafood is my love

Supposedly its a chick thing--theres a higher bioavalibility of iron is raw meats and women are more likely to have an iron deficiency because of periods

Fuck I wish it was like that in here in Australia.
Basically everyone over the age of 40 here thinks if meat isn't brown/grey all the way through then it's raw and will kill you.

wat. Also, next time make the patties yourself.

Cheeseburgers aren't inherently unhealthy, though OP probably made them so. There's nothing really wrong with a 4 oz patty, whole wheat burger bun, and some quality cheese. The issue is when people make 3/4 lb patties out of 60/40 beef eaten on storebought white bread with a kraft single and a coke and fries to go with it.

Probably better for me than the processed stuff I could've easily bought instead. Cut me some slack man. I made an effort to get quality ingredients at least.

Also, what do you mean make the patties myself? I bought 80/20 beef mince and mashed that shit up myself. Is there another way people make patties? Wat.

>>6047998
sometimes people buy them pre-made

Anyway if you're not mincing your own meat then I would cook them all the way through. This is because you don't know how sanitary the mincer they used was, and while it's safe to cook steaks rare, that's because only the outside of the steak is exposed to (possible) contamination, while all the surface area of the mince is exposed to contamination.

On the other hand, you could have just cooked the first one longer instead of throwing it away.

You almost certainly would have been fine anyway.

How common is food poisoning?
I've eaten some dodgy shit, raw mince, uncooked chicken ect and never gotten so much as an upset tummy.
I've had the shits a few times but who doesn't get that?

Every time you've had the shits that was food poisoning. It can be much worse than that. I've only had it bad once, and that was from some expired quinoa, of all things. (Had never had it before, so I didn't realize the funny taste was that it was rancid. I was 23, so what the fuck did I know?)

>> No.6048215

Honestly, you could probably eat most hamburger meat raw and be fine.

Dude, I get the shits from too much booze. Don't tell me THAT'S food poisoning, too.

Hell, I get the shits if I eat too much fat the night before.
