Vanilla is a flavor that I prefer by itself. If I didn't like it, it could be used as a generic base which with additions would completely cover up any hint of vanilla ice cream, but it you want that, why not just start off with a relevant base flavor?

Floats (colas or root beer) are good. Don't blend them. Enough vanilla and cream will mix into the soda to make it perfect, and the leftover icecream will have the nice flavor of soda.

Orange pop is good too. Don't see enough of that. Just like a creamsickle/pushup pop.
