alright /ck/, i need the help of some midwest fags.

being a hotdog/sausage lover of all kinds, i decided to try a replication of a chicago hotdog.

the only ingredient i have been having trouble with is the sport pepper.

i recently found this one, and having tasted it, it has a nice heat, and mild (but present) flavor (and even a similar neon dye) that seems like it would go really well with the other ingredients
was wondering if any of you who have had a legit chicago hotdog and these peppers can confirm that it would be an adequate substitute

Vienna brand is OG, cajun chef tastes better. Both are available at grocery stores.

If you have time and want to do it right to impress others or just not lower your standards Vienna beef has a nice online store.

Just made italian beefs and I no longer live in the chicago area. I got a jar of merretta and while it wasn't bad, it wasn't the right stuff for hot peppers.
You're prolly not gonna get any better than their brand. It doesn't matter cause if you're trying for a true replication of the dog, you're fucked when it comes to neon green dill rellish.

I hope you're at least using a Hebrew National Dog.

those peppers will do just fine
they may have a bigger bite (heatwise) but are what you want
chi-dog is my favorite kind of dog nothing else comes close not even bacon wrapped.
Be sure to use real vienna wieners otherwise you are missing the mark

i will probably do that in the future to compare it with these.

but i have a hunch these will make a very good substitute. not like a pepperoncini or something dumb like that.

and i was using a vienna dog, not a jew dog, though i think i might have some jew dogs on hand.

thanks anon.
the peppers were imo the perfect amount of spiciness, so i think i will be happy with it.

You don't have to use Vienna hotdogs. You can use any all beef frankfurter, but if you want a hotdog, other than Vienna, that is manufactured in Chicago, you can get Red Hot Chicago hotdogs.

Maybe you should've mentioned that in your OP then.

Amazon has both brands.
