I like onions I just don't like 'em raw.
I've tried to get over this for over a decade but I just can't. I know I miss out on a lot of good food but I seriously gag at the taste of a RAW onion, I don't know why.

They're still like that. Living with an open minded roommate who tries the food I buy and I'm not sure if I like. Mom stops by sometimes and I'll offer her some of what I made and she says "...are there any onions or peppers?" meaning bell peppers.

There's a genetic marker in a significant portion of people, onions just hit them a hundred times harder than everyone else. It's related to an allergy.

A smaller portion of those people are ones that had really shit onions and don't feel comfortable trying them again.

So mostly it's completely reasonable, it's very rarely that people are just "picky."
