I got a terrible electric kettle. (Pic related). I don't need anyone to tell me how bad it is, I am already well aware.

So before I fucking throw this shit away and get a REAL kettle....

What can I "cook" using it other than hot drinks?

I am thinking soup mixes that you can pour hot water over? Anyone got good recommendations? (inb4 ramen- no thanks) I want to find the best soups, dehydrated foods, whatever. So that I can justify getting an expensive kettle that actually keeps the water hot.

>> No.5855508

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with an electric kettle? Britfag tea addict here, an electric kettle is much faster than a stove top model.

I think he wants one of those keetle that "hold" the temperature of the water. usually for tea and stuff like that. Instead of one that brings water to a boil then turns off (allowing water to cool afterward)

Also OP, you could make tea. I also use my kettle to boil the water for pastas, rices, and shit like that because it's way faster than waiting for the stove to reach boiling point.

If you some some shitty prepackaged instant shit I guess there's stuff like Pot Noodle which is pretty popular, though I don't tend to eat that sort of stuff so I can't vouch for them compared to tohers.

heats it up, then just shuts off and has ZERO insulation. So within 10 min I have lukewarm water again. The point (to me) of getting one was to have hot water constantly available, not to have to make hot water every time I wanted it. Also it's somehow RIGHT HANDED so it's awkward as fuck to use as a lefty.

I assume an electric kettle is more useful for people who drink tea on a daily basis.

I mean I drink tea on a daily basis but maybe once my twenty year old stove top kettle stops functioning I'll invest in a decent electric kettle. Probably something made out of steel.

Maybe but I drink coffee every day at home with a hario v60. I suspect I would get use out of an electric kettle but it just seems like a thing for foreigners. I start looking at them online and then I see the stovetop version and I like it better, and then I click add to cart, and then I go wait a minute I've already got one.

no like this, kind of. (pic semi-related, closest I could find)

Coffee's already in it, vacuum-sealed in a tiny bag. You open it and take out this little footie-thing that stands on your cup, pop it open to reveal the coffee. Pour your hot water on, wait, and then throw it away.

The disposable version basically. Keurig.
