Made fondue in a cast iron pot. What's the best way to clean it?

Use fire.

Boil some water with it.

Never use soap or washing detergent, it'll rust to hell and back

coarse salt and elbow grease

There's nothing really wrong with using soap, you just reseason it afterwards. Obviously this takes away flavor and reseasoning properly is a bit of a chore so it's a last resort.

Start scrubbing. use water only when you need to and make sure you dry it really well after that and rub some fat into it.

Holy fuck, I'm never getting a cast iron pan/pot.

Eh, it can be useful for a lot of things, but it's not the be-all-to-end-all pan that /ck/ says it is.

These faggots treat it like it's a delicate flower. It's not. Wash it, bang it, throw it at a vegan's head - doesn't matter.

>using cast iron

>> No.5854417

>moved into a small townhome
>kitchen has minimal ventilation
>can't cook with cast iron on higher heats anymore without setting off the smoke detectors

I want to blacken some chicken breast so badly.

>> No.5854422

>>5854417
just put bags over the detectors until you've vented the place

Take the batteries out if you can. Just be sure to put them back in when you clear the room of smoke!
