How come no one told me about this?

I've been using maple syrup my whole life like a total fucking idiot. Basically this stuff is delicious and I feel like an asshole.

that stuff is intense.

pouring it straight on pancakes would be too much.

if you like that mineral flavor, you'd also probably like buckwheat honey.

Molasses is crazy. It has all these dimensions and it is super addictive, even if it doesn't taste quite right at first.

can I use molasses to make wine? I know it's used for rum, but I can't be arsed to distill.
taste isn't relevant, I bleed Steel Reserve.

I have a jar in my pantry for making cookies and sometimes I just eat spoonfuls of it.

I eat a couple spoonfuls of molasses (unsulphured) every day, because I'm anemic and it has iron, magnesium and calcium in it. Gotta get those minerals any way I can. I like it though, tastes great.

Unfortunately molasses are hard to come by in Germany (and very expensive if you manage to find some) but you can get "Goldsaft" in every supermarket. It's basically the same but made from sugar beets that grow everywhere around here. Tastes great if you like a little mineral flavor.
