I don't hate ketchup. I'll even eat a hot dog ketchup if it's a shitty one I threw in the microwave and I'm in a particularly self-loathing kind of mood. I eat ketchup on my french fries, my burgers, hell, even my corn dogs. But if you're going to take the time to make a nice hot dog, don't ruin it by covering it in ketchup.

The idea isn't to "cover" it in ketchup. You use it like any other condiment: in moderation and distributed evenly.

Look at that picture. That is hardly a ketchup-slathered hot dog.

If that were the case we would all be ordering the "Ketchup Burger", or the "Ketchup Meatloaf". We don't because it is a condiment that can add a dimension to a dish, when used as a, wait for it...CONDIMENT.

i've heard people bitch and moan about ketchup on hotdogs, it doesn't kill the flavor as long as you don't put a lot on but if I have other ingredients like tomatos, pickles, or pepper, I don't put it on because it'll overpower other flavors. On a standard Ketchup, mustard, and relish hotdog, its fine

If you're putting 5 pounds of fucking condiments and vegetables on there, you might as well not even bother with the hot dog.
If the hot dog itself tastes so shit, (or comes from chigaco) that you need to drown in with pickles and avacado and 12 different sauces, maby you need to eat something else instead.

Most of the ketchup haters likely refuse to TRY ketchup with different combinations to see if there's any way that they enjoy it.

I do not like ketchup on hotdogs. I have tried ketchup many ways on hotdogs, and the result is the same.

I generally don't like ketchup. I'll put it on a burger in lieu of fresh tomato if it's unavailable, ketchup-based meatloaf glaze, and I've even enjoyed it with some fries lately. Just can't do it on hotdogs.
