Sup /ck/

I'm a few days I'm doing an almost-cross-country trip from NYC to Salt Lake City

>Chicago
>Yellowstone Park Region
>Salt Lake City
>Denver
>Kansas City
>St. Louis

Are amongst the most major areas I'll be stopping.

I've lived in NY all my life and haven't experienced much in terms of "American" food, and I am ignorant to a lot of the foods served.
NY is a conglomerate of all types of people so I've tried chink/jap.asian food, indian food, western&eastern european food, latino food..etc. I want AMERICAN food

I'm looking for recommendations of places to visit or foods to try.

An example being, I know for a fact that when I get to Salt Lake City, I will find an In-N-Out. Or if I were in the south, I would try authentic Sweet tea or biscuits or something

Thank you.
Pic related is a rough outline of my route. Based on that, can you offer any help? OK Thank U

Lou Malnati's pizza
make sure it has sausage
>St. Louis
I miss Pasta House :(

If you pass through Steamboat Springs, CO there's an interesting Mexican-Italian place.

In between KC and St Louis, take 50 highway instead of 70. Stop in a little shit hole town called Sedalia. About an hour and forty-five past KC.

Go south on the intersection of 50 and 65. Stop at Kehde's.

Ask to be seated in the train car.
Browse menu.
Order.
Eat.
Enjoy atmosphere.
Pay.
Leave.
Get the fuck out of Sedalia.
Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Interested in making a quick detour to Milwaukee? A little bar there has the best chicken wings you'll ever eat in your life, I'll bet on it.

Thanks for the rec, but I will most likely be staying on 70, but I'll write it in my notes just in case

>Rocky. Mountain. Oysters.
googled it and said bull testicles.
Now please be honest, is this legitimate food, a troll or the /mlp/ of food crowd-tier food?
>>5733415
Can you provide me the name of the bar?

It's fried bull testicles.
It's something you have to try if you're in CO.

> pasta house
I'm just gonna say that it might not be as good as I remember. That was half my life ago when I last ate there and I was still picky as fuck.

Tomken's. Mondays and Thursdays are 50 cent wings, but they're huge…you might not be able to finish 12, almost certainly be able to finish 18. Best tasting wings I've ever had. One of his best sauces is a peanut butter and sriracha sauce.

After you get an Italian beef from chicago, head up two hours to Glendale and get a butter burger from Solly's.

Another pizza place you may want to check out when you get to Chicago is Pequods. They make a deep dish pizza then put more cheese on top, put it back in the oven and bake it until that cheese caramelizes.

I've made a lot of rocky mountain oysters.
They're annoying to prep. The membrane can be a bitch to remove and they're slippery. Worst of all are the terrible jokes while prepping.
They're just tender bits of offal. When marinated and fried by someone who knows what they're doing, they're really good.

Gotta get a Chicago dog with hulk puke relish.

You could probably go your entire life without eating bull balls and not miss anything.

Why would you eat at an In-N-Out in SLC?

They're good, but it's a chain, you can find them all over.

There's a sandwich shop here called the Philadelphian that's a hole in the wall sort of place, but bretty gud.

Because you cannot find them in NY...or anywhere on the east coast. As far as I know, in-n-out is a west coast thing
idk when the net time ill be on the west US if ever

I'm not going to Salt Lake City for the sole purpose of eating In-n-out

I just checked their locations and they just happen to have like 50 restaurants in that one city alone...and it also happens to be the only city in my path that has them

Of you're willing to take an hour or so or of your journey, go through Scranton, PA. I-81 goes straight through, as well as some others. The Backyard Alehouse is fantastic

Grab me a couple bottles of Strannahan's Whiskey while you're in Colorado and let me know when you get to Chicago. I'll pay you for the bottles and buy you a beer.

Or are you going the other way? Regardless, you should get some Strannahan's when you get to Colorado, it's tasty.
