Hey /ck/, i don't normally come here. I'm usually on /tg/, but i just wanted to bring this here.

I

fucking

love

spam

And I'm not a native Hawaiian or anything like that. Anyway, lets have a Spam general thread. I'm always looking for new and fun ways to prepare and eat it.

I like to just fry a few slices and put it in a bun with cheese mustard and ketchup. I also like to prepare some rice, fry up a few slices, add some soy sauce when frying, and eat it over rice with chopsticks.

How do you guys like to eat it?

I like to slice it super thin, cut each slice into bite-size chunks and broil them until they're crunchy. Spam chips!

Yesterday I was visiting a chef at our local college and I was lucky enough to hang around for most of the class. At one point the chef hands me an old photo album and leaves me be while he teaches the class about risotto. The pictures are from a polaroid camera and its hard to make out the fine details. He comes back later and I ask him what this one picture is-it looks like it's spam. Holy shit.... I thought he was gonna have an aneurysm. He yelled "SPAM?!?!?!" LOUD enough that I'm sure the entire campus heard him. Then he tells me it was salmon and I apologize.

I thought I was gonna die. Never again will I mention spam in front of a culinary professional.

OP, are you Hawaiian?
Hawaiians LOVE Spam.

There's old footage from WW2 of Hawaiian guards bare chested bearing swords guarding a cave FULL of Spam cans on palettes. Enough to feed the whole island for a month.

It's just too damned popular.

Good thing you can still get the off brand stuff for $1.25 -$1.50 a tin.

>> No.5723588

I've never tried Spam before, I imagine it's like a tin of room temperature hotdog meat.
Doesn't really sound the appealing.

It's all about spam fried rice.

Thinly sliced grilled spam inside a grilled cheese sandwich is a winner too.

He didn't even roast the chicken or veg in the oven before he put it in the pot.

Did i not say in my opening post that i wasnt hawaiian?

I've never stepped foot in hawaii, nor most of my family. I was never raised on this stuff. The first time I tasted it was a few years ago. I saw it at my grocery store and decided to try it out, so see what all the fuss was about.

I saute' slices, then:
Make spam grilled cheese sandwiches.
Make eggs benedict with Spam instead of ham.
Dice it up and add it to mac & cheese.
