A Liberal Muslim homosexual ACLU professor and abortion doctor was teaching a class on Karl Marx.. "Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship Marx and accept that he was the most highly-evolved being the world has ever known, even greater than Jesus Christ!"

At this moment, a brave, patriotic, pro-life Navy SEAL Champion who had served 1500 tours of duty, and understood the necessity of war and fully supported all military decisions made by the United States, stood up and held a rock.

"How old is this rock?"

The arrogant professor smirked quite Jewishly and replied, "4.6 billion years, you stupid Christian."

"Wrong. It's been 6,000 years since God created it. If it was 4.6 billion years old, and evolution — as you say — is real, then it should be an animal now."

The professor was visibly shaken, dropped his chalk and copy of Origin of the Species, and stormed out of the room crying liberal crocodile tears.

The students applauded and all registered Republican on that day. An Eagle named "Small Government" flew into the room and perched atop the American Flag, shedding a tear on the chalk. The pledge of allegiance was read several times, and Jesus Christ showed up to enact a flat tax rate across the country.

The professor lost his tenure and was fired the next day. He died of the gay plague AIDS and was tossed into the lake of fire for all of eternity.

That Navy Seal was Ronald Reagan.

A Judeo-Bolshevist, homosexual, capitalist banker was teaching a class on Karl Marx, known ethnic Jew.

"Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship Marx and accept that he was the most highly-evolved Übermensch that the world has ever known, even greater than Adolf Hitler."

At this moment, a brave, volkisch, nationalist Waffen-SS member who had served 1500 tours of duty and understood the necessity of non-Marxist socialism and hated the Jews for stabbing the Germans in the back stood up and held up a rock.

"How old is this rock?"

The arrogant banker smirked quite Jewishly and smugly replied "4.6 billion years, you stupid Nazi."

"Correct. It's been 4.6 billion years since geothermic forces created it. The natural scientific model must be applied to the political sphere, and thus foreign elements must be removed so that the rock of Germany will be pure."

The banker was visibly shaken and dropped his copy of the Treaty of Versailles. He stormed out of the room crying those Jewish crocodile tears.

The students applauded and all registered NSDAP that day and accepted Hitler as the immortal Führer of the German Reich and people. An eagle named "Ahnenerbe" flew into the room and perched atop the Swastika flag and shed a tear on the chalk board. Mein Kampf was read several times, and Wotan himself showed up and enacted Germanization across Eastern Europe.

While the reasons may be different, I would respect and consider valid someone's choice to refrain from alcohol, meat, or other products. There is no such comparable reason for demanding meat in the aforementioned situation.

I know that it goes against my diet to even touch it, but i couldnt and wouldnt put myself in this position if i was going to be picky about it. anyone vegetarian that would put themselves in a position to touch meat should know, they will come in contact with meat. they should make better choices. the food business is filled with meat, its not the best or easiest place for a veggiehead.

in my humble opinion.

No one who knows what they're talking about believes that static, non-adaptable reactions to outside stimuli are comparable to a central nervous system.

A venus flytrap does not salivate acid when a tasty fly crosses into it's vision, it's a state-based action that occurs only when it's leaves snap shut due to the fly walking on them and triggering one of thousands of little hairs on the surface. This is all done through various, simple, chemical and mechanical processes.
An active nervous system in a plant like the venus flytrap would allow it to coordinate it's physiology to, for example, track down flies in their habitats or steal from spiders or what have you.

I use a venus flytrap only because its one of the most well known carniverous plants, namely because I dont think you've done more than a cursory reading on the subject.

And no, that's not at all true. Just because it can't act intelligently doesn't mean it doesn't have a nervous system. Chemical reactions of all kinds produce electricity, as well as small amounts of light and heat.
As for the anesthesia, you've got me there. Mostly because exactly how ether and it's derivatives work to inhibit nerves and awareness isn't fully understood yet.
But since nerve signals are just another chemical reaction, it's not unreasonable to assume that a similar effect could be seen in plants, where chemical reactions cause.. basically everything in the plant.

Precisely because it doesnt have a nervous system is why it cant do shit like walk around and see and all that good stuff we get to experience.

A working central nervous system is used in animals to coordinate the body's efforts into one conscious goal.

A V. Flytrap's stem doesnt give a shit about what the leaves are doing, it's roots dont care what the stem's doing, and so on. Because it cant. Because it doesnt have a central nervous system.

You double nigger.

What about it? That's just species specialization.
Maybe its because a lobster anticipates to lose a limb or two in it's life, and regrowing the nerves in those bits just takes too much time and effort, and mother nature decided to just rip that out of the animal's code from the start.

If you're going to cut it all down to chemical reactions, then that's literally all ANYTHING is.

You can't just use that as a catch-all justification for eating vegetables and not meat by saying that "chemical reactions don't constitute a nervous system".

Like I said just because we don't understand it doesn't mean it isn't one, and it's literally all ours is, is chemical reactions.

Dopamine, adrenaline, serotonin, oxytocin, cortisol, etc etc.

These are all chemicals that, when they are released and react with our brain, change our emotions and state of mind.

Our nervous system is based on electrochemical impulses. Sure it's a hell of a lot more complex, but it's the same thing

Coral is one of the most advanced invertebrate organism in the world. It's generally immobile and can only move parts of itself. It's considered to have a nervous system, and is no more complex than plants.

Plants are ALIVE. They grow, they mature, they have different stages, they produce offspring through seeds (comparable to how some animals produce offspring through eggs).

Trees live longer than you and I EVER will. They react, albeit slowly, to outside stimulus by growing new bark over damaged areas faster than typical bark growth.

To say plants don't have SOME SORT of nervous system is ignorant.

Dense motherfucker,

Our nervous system is different in that we can use it (and it's many complex chemical reactions and mechanical systems) to guide our bodies into executing conscious goals, like hunting, or swimming, or jumping, or whatever.

Plants. Can. Not.

>>5567300
I will concede that there are systems in place to react to outside stimulus. Watch a time lapse of a bean stalk trying to grip a pole to grow higher and it becomes obvious at that point.

But it's all mechanical, and in now way dependent on other parts of the plant aside from the fact that nutrients flow through every part of the plant to the others, keeping the whole thing alive.

A tree grows bark faster in damaged areas because it exposes and allows sap to seep out into the open, crystalizing and facilitating bark growth by providing a boon of nutrients to the area.
But those nutrients were destined for another part of the tree, the damage just got in the way. It's purely mechanical.

When a human being is unconscious, their body still works. If a guy slips into a coma, he'll wake up with a beard because his body was still functioning and building even though his mind wasn't. This is most likely what a plant is like. Yes it has ways to repair itself and to some degree defend itself, it can respond to some stimuli, it got that way through evolution. What it didn't get through evolution is a mind to think and feel. They're alive by technicality but they didn't evolve to have thoughts and emotions like those in the animal kingdom do

Whether or not you want to admit it, adaptive growth and reaction to outside stimuli is a form of intelligence. Sure, it may be extremely simple and basic but it points to intelligence all the same.

But we don't KNOW that. We have no way of communicating with them. Plants live much longer than we do. Generations of humans can go by during the life of a single plant. If they do have some form of intelligence it's going to be vastly slower moving than ours. They're not going to develop in the same way or speed we do, because they don't need to. Plants will always be here. They were there at the fall of the dinosaurs, they were there at the rise of humanity, and they'll be there at the fall of humanity.

Once again. Just because we lack the ability to communicate with them does not make them unthinking or unfeeling

My girlfriend is a vegetarian and there hasn't been any issues at all. She brings her own tofu as a substitute for any meat that would be made and just eats anything else that is available with no meat in it. She has never complained about me eating meat, never whined when she came over to a friend barbecue, and in general treats it as a dietary choice, not a lifestyle.

As a vegetarian, the worst part about being a vegetarian is having to explain why. I feel like there's a hypocrisy, that a lot of people talk about vegetarians whining etc, when I have never in my life had the following happen:
Either I decline some food and need to give a reason or I pass up a restaurant or something (e.g KFC)
"Sorry, I'm a vegetarian"
"Oh, OK"

Every person you talk to has to have an explanation. I do my best not to let on to avoid it, because some people want to turn reasons into a debate, a lot of people seem to actually have moral issues with eating meat (I don't) that they then go on to talk about... Frankly, I'd rather people just thought of it as a wacko religion and didn't want to know. I don't want to talk about it with every single person.
