I've got a question for /ck/ this seems like the thread to ask.

Is it bad to go on foodstamps if you don't exactly need it? I'm asking because in about a year or two I'll be moving out and living a single person apartment, but my job only gets me about 600-700 a month; which is barely enough for my rent and other bills. I'd only have about 100 bucks a money or less to cover my food.

It wouldn't be impossible, but it would be hard at times to last 2 weeks with that little cash for food.

But if I went on food stamps just to get an extra 100 bucks or so; I'd be perfectly fine. Is it ok to do that, or would I be just fucking DA GUBMINT and the people that truly need it? Would I be liable in anyway to get "sued" over it?

For two weeks food I made a protein patty with tuna, chickpeas, eggs, and spices and I eat it with a scoop of cooked rice and a few mini sweet peppers. Lea & perrins sprinkled on top. Pretty good considering I had to scrape around and plan to do what I could with what I had.

not OP, but I get $375 a month in stamps, $100 of which goes on as "cash" that I can use to buy whatever/withdraw from ATM. Also live in a complex where rent is half off, and my living assistance pays for the other half. Free cable+internet, utilities tied into rent, free laundry, etc all as long as I qualify for that living assistance. Whenever I go to the state office to sit down on a computer and 'apply" for jobs they give me $20 in gas cards to pay for the trip there and back (and they are only like 4 blocks away)

So you see I really have no incentive to work. Because then I have to start paying for things. no thanks.

And general just google your state for assistance in different areas. There's usually all kinds of things people qualify for but never realize. I started getting stamps when I was working a full work week when I saw another employee buy us lunch with snap, and he made more than I did. Shortly after I just stopped working as I found more and more ways to get money.

I have to go down and apply for work every so often, but shitty applications keep that from happening much. Every now and then I'll get some crappy 0-skill job like moving a lever on a wheel-making machine up and down, but within a week I can get myself fired usually to stay on unemployment. can't quit.
