For that, how would I time stamp it?

Also, for the cutting a open a can and then cutting a tomato one, does it have to be a kitchen knife? Because the only >$100 knife I own is a Benchmade 710 pocket knife. It has a D2 steel blade, so it'll do that shit no problem.

Fucking post isn't going through.

>>5522603
Hahaha I'm already pretty much done...I think the board is asking me to take the anti-bean elitism to the extreme, so my only ingredients are beef, chiles, and water.

Here's what I've got:
3 pounds chuck roast (probably down to 2.5 by the time I got rid of all the connective tissue)
3 dried arbols
3 dried anchos
2 dried cascabels
(Some fresh serranos going in towards the end)

I just took an enameled CI dutch oven, rendered some of the fattier bits in a bit of water, browned the beef in batches and removed, deglazed with water (the cringiest moment of my life), then added everything together. Simmering on the stove because it's too hot for the oven.

If I do a serious chili in the future I'll do a cook-along thread with it.

Deep frying it yourself, hence the mandatory web'um/gif

Cranes just need to be edible food and easily recognizable as individual cranes. one material is fine.

...no. For one, an omelet has other ingredients in it inside after you fold the eggs. Scrambled eggs usually doesn't. You can fuck up an omelet and turn it into scrambled eggs, but you can't fuck up scrambled eggs and turn it into an omelet.

>Hard boiled and soft boiled and deviled are all the same fucking thing...
True, hard-boiled and soft-boiled eggs are just that - boiled. However, you need extra steps and ingredients to turn boiled eggs into deviled eggs. That's like saying boiled potatoes are the same shit as potato hash. Not the same fucking thing.

Cast iron is pretty heavy--a 10" skillet is about 6 pounds. If it's in good condition and well-seasoned it will be jet-black. If it's unseasoned, a dull grey, but unseasoned will rust very quickly.

Rusted certainly isn't ruined--in fact, I just got a used skillet last week and soaked it in vinegar then scrubbed like hell to get rid of the rust. I would say ruined would mean warped, cracked, or excessively pitted.

Not OP, but I think the purpose for that one is to see how your knife cuts after ruining. Also to serve as proof that you did open a can and cut a tomato with the same knife.

>> No.5531316

>>5531233

The point is that it's a classic infomercial plot to cut a(n aluminum, soda) can with a knife, and then cut a tomato, to show that the (cheap) knife will keep it's blade.

Nobody ever asked for an anon to cut a thick fucking tin can.

In any case, the point seemed to be to re-enact the infomercial (which was always completely dumb, no pun intended).

I'm just speaking for myself but I think as long as the entire meal is blue/purple/combination of both, no matter how you got there, it's fine. So food coloring, naturally occurring blue and purple foods, whatever, is good.

As for the meal tasting nice, just as long as it's reasonable... and edible.

>> No.5531386

Would a salad count as a meal? If so I could make one in a few hours

>> No.5531480

>>5531386
Huh. I'm not sure if OP meant:
>"meal" as a two/three course event (app, entree, dessert) OR
>"meal" as one dish with a reasonable, filling portion size that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. (As in, "Wow. This salad is so filling it's an entire meal by itself.")

Personally, I'd go with the latter. Maybe the anon who originally suggested that can clear this up.

>> No.5531727

>>5531480

Not OP, or the anon that suggested the category, but it seems pretty clear that you need to provide what would be considered a full, single course.

A multi-course meal seems unreasonable, and pretty much overkill, but a bowl of blueberries topped with creme de cassis whipped cream (i know, it wouldn't really be blue) shouldn't count.

I interpret it as something like a balanced dinner, consisting of all blue shit.

It's no big deal, both for the square and the knife. It's all in stupid fun, but the fact that mod tagged on an auto green text response is shitty, and just furthers my dislike.
Anyway, the knife was only slightly dulled by it, and only the top 1.5 inches or so of the blade. Didn't even roll the edge or tip. 10 minutes on 3 stones and it's back to razor sharp.
