Something you have to get down with that dish is slicing the garlic thinly and evenly, otherwise you'll end up with a bunch of undercooked and overcooked garlic slices.

If you feel like making a garlic bread side dish, practice doing the slicing on the garlic, and then once you're done just mince it up and use it for garlic butter.

As for the parsley, a good tip is to roll up the leaves, or pack them down. Make sure they are fully dried before you start chopping.
