Best supermarket lager, /ck/?

You know pic related is the only right answer

>> No.5501994

I like: PBR, Steel Reserve, Yuengling, and sometimes coors.

Otherwise, everything else tastes like shit, though I've never really tried IPAs or anything.

I still prefer most hard liquors like vodka or whiskey to beer.

Most international lagers taste pretty much the same. I have a favourite brand but it's mostly just a thing to simplify the shopping process.

gonna go with OP here. If I'm picking up something quick and cheap from the supermarket with my regular groceries, its always Heineken.

It's actually preferable to Fosters or Carlsberg, but yes, it is piss tier, as is pretty much anything brewed in the UK.

When I go to Sainsbury's I buy Tsingtao, Budvar and Heineken.

it always tastes a little like aspirin to me.
i started drinking lager in scotland (tennents is just fine, tbh, its got a much stronger flavour) and i was horrified to realise carling was such a poor switch. the head tastes so crappy and artificial, but i refuse to pay an extra 60p for a different lager.

sometimes i order it with a skoosh of lemonade in the head to dissipate the taste. it's not bad with a newspaper, cheese and onion, and some football, but it's a pretty awful fucking beer.

>a lot of supermarkets (I'm thinking Publix specifically) carry local microbrews
This. The selection is pretty decent at more and more groceries where you aren't limited to the biggest national bestsellers alone. However, not all of the award-winning lauded stuff is refrigerated, or fresh, given import time and conditions as well as popularity.

I buy an Asahi Super Dry as a big favorite reminiscent of old Bud Dry. It goes great when I'm making a curry or stir fry. It's especially nice with appetizers, whether edamame or a simple salad.

I tend to buy national beers that match my food of origin, which is silly with something that doesn't have that much like a lager, but it reminds me of vacations, and therefore enhances the meal. So, Presidente with latin food, or a Negra Modelo with mexican. I like Pilsner Urquell, Staropramen.

Cigar City is delicious. Sam Adams is always decent. All the specialty Dogfish Head or Victory never disappoint me. I like Leinenkugel's sunset wheat from time to time, as well as ciders. Lagunitas Pils, Brooklyn lager.

None of those are even close to microbrew. Just because something imported doesn't automatically make it good.

>I like: PBR
Let me stop you right there, motherfucker.
PBR is some of the most terrible pisswater shit I've ever tasted in my life.
It's literally a "drink as fast as you can so you don't have to taste it" drink. I would sooner sip on cheap whisky for hours than drink a PBR with less than chug speed.
I would sooner drink Miller High Life than PBR.
I would sooner drink stale, room temperature coffee mixed with low quality irish cream than PBR.
I go to this bar sometimes where you can get a cigarette, a shot of James, and a PBR for $5 and I will regularly give away my PBR to a random person in the bar when getting the cigarette and shot.
