When my oldest brother's wife was in a crowded Walmart in Amarillo a few months ago, at one point she left her shopping cart sitting in the middle of an aisle and wandered off looking for something. She never did find the shopping cart again.

So she carried a few items she needed. While I was in a checkout line, I looked over and she had gotten into what had to be the longest line in the store. Later I looked and she was gone so I figured that must have been a pretty quick line.

When I got out to the car, I found her sitting there. It turned out that after a couple of minutes of waiting in line, she had set everything down and walked out.

It is at the duty of the law enforcement officer to ascertain whether or not you are a threat to others. If it is legal to openly carry long arms in public in his area, then by legal definition, the law enforcement officer's duties ends after it is determined that you are not doing anything illegal and by his discretion, determine that you are not posing a threat to public safety.

Really, really depends. With a nation with a historical and prevalent 'gun culture', the concept of 'not having guns' is socially and morally irresponsible it would imply that you are legally limited in your abilities to defend yourself from guns that are in circulation illegally.
