I buy most of my produce, milk, and eggs from two farms. One is not certified anything as it's fairly small and the owner rages any time someone asks about it. They'd qualify if they wanted to pay for it. The other is larger, and both USDA organic and biodynamic. I trust biodynamic more, because even though it's a bunch of silly superstitious nonsense, it means they're into sustainable agriculture no matter how labor intensive it gets.

The stuff I get from these places is so much better than anything from the grocery store (organic or otherwise) that it's not a choice. I literally feel ill drinking Horizon or Organic Valley milk, just the smell makes my stomach turn.

When I need something out of season, I'll buy whatever. Usually organic just because 2 out of 3 times I'm at whole foods where the selection is pretty good and the produce is reasonably fresh (by the standards of a grocery store, at least). But this USDA organic stuff is just a label invented by large agricultural interests, it doesn't mean what you think it means.
