>if tomato sauce is supposed to go in the fridge then why do they sell it on shelves
>bonus: why do they store it in non-refrigerated conditions
I work at a grocery store, I'd know
>checkmate

Because you don't have to till you open it shitlord

it's only supposed to go in the fridge after you open it. like mayonnaise

why though?
It doesn't go off, plus most bottles seal it in. There is no point in putting it in the fridge

Autoxidation. Educate yourself.

>> No.5485106

I know what Autoxidation is, I took chem through high school
It doesn't let enough air in to Autoxidate. Plus the average pantry doesn't have a high enough temperature to facilitate a quick Autoxidation process.
In other words, it barely does anything

Once you've opened the jar, air and bacteria get into the sauce, which will eventually cause it to spoil if not refrigerated.

>> No.5485114

I don't get how murikans can shit themselves in fear at the idea of raw egg, BUT will denie the existence of bacteria spoiling hteir mayo and ketchup at room temperature.

You put it in the fridge to retard the development of bacteria. Before that the jars were sealed after/during the time the food was cooked. Therefore the food is, hypothetically, in a sealed, sterile environment until it is opened.

Then why do restaurants have the bottles sitting out on the table in room temperature?

>> No.5485601

Because people eat it fast enough that it doesn't spoil. Also they do lots of gross stuff people don't realize.

I'm not shitting myself in fear. Sit the fuck down.

>> No.5485892

The label tells you to refridgerate it so they can cover their ass if someone gets sick. Once upon a time people would sue companies because they ate spoiled goods and it was the company's fault because "they nevr told me 2 refrigerate it!!!!111"
