Wendy's is one of those inconsistent joints. Sometimes it really brings me back and is well worth the money, and sometimes old and/or ill prepared. The trick is to find the right location and the right time to go.

Where McDonald's is probably the best at consistency, and KFC the worse, I'd put Wendy's in the better half, probably just above Jack in the Box.

I'll always rate Wendy's amongst the lowest of the fast food chains I visit simply because they've been getting my order wrong for years. Not just a couple times, not once in a blue moon, but dozens and dozens of times. Why doesn't Wendy's know what a mother fucking hamburger is? Whataburger is seriously god-tier fast food. I remember stopping there several times while on road trips in/through Texas when I was a kid, so good. When they opened up some around my hometown in Mississippi a few years back, it was a godsend. Burgers, fries, onion rings, it's all great. Wendy's is pretty much the only nationwide chain that has improved over time, while everyone else has treaded water(BK fucking with their fries constantly not withstanding).

I dunno, for me Wendy's has been steadily going downhill since they swapped to natural-cut fries. I miss their old fries so much, they were about the best fast food had to offer (that weren't curly). Then they started fucking with their burgers, pulling all kinds of weird shit. About the only things that are still consistently good are the chicken nuggets and the Frosties.

Me and my friend talk about this sometimes. I remember eating at Wendys when Dave Thomas was still around, was so fucking much better.

Here is a creepy story. We had to write a paper about someone that you admire back in highschool, 10th grade I think. I wrote it on Dave Thomas. He learned how to cook for a bunch of people when he was a cook in the Army, then got out and was like a self made man and shit.
A few weeks later he died.

A year later I did the same thing with Mister Rogers. I mentioned him in a paper saying how he was good at talking to people, got funding for PBS and all of that and how he is super concerned about child development.

He died like a week later. That was 11th grade.
I was kinda creeped out and sad.
I had a webmastering class Senior year and made a website about Mr. T being the toughest man in the world, but it wasn't meant to be serious so he lived. I was tempted to send him a letter warning him to be careful and shit. Drink his milk and all that.

Steak n shake is just a 2 minute drive from me, and the biggest issue that i've never been able to get over is the portion sizes.

It really does depend on the franchise. Near me, the Wendy's and the Popeye's are good, and the BK and Taco Bell are awful. McDonald's is just consistently McDonald's.

There isn't an Arby's anywhere near me. All I remember is they had those curly fries which were pretty good, their roast beef was awful and you could get anything on the menu drowned in fake cheese. The local KFC went out of business 2 months after the Popeye's opened up.

Start with just a Whataburger and order it exactly how you want it if you have a particular way you like your burgers; they make 'em when you order them so you can get the toppings you want. Their onion rings are great, I always get those instead of fries (but their fries are good too). The honey BBQ chicken strip sandwich was great the last time I went, and I think I had a patty melt there once that was awesome. They also take the stuff out to your table which is nice of 'em. You pretty much can't go wrong with their menu.

Also in reference to my love of Steak 'n Shake earlier, I just looked on their website and found that they're opening a location near my hometown. Guess I know where I'm moving back to.
