Can I make pizza with just flour and water?

>> No.5443355

you can make a shitty cracker.

>> No.5443366

Yep. Go on and do it. Flour+water=pizza!!

>> No.5443402

what's the best proportion for flour and water in a pizza? everyone on the internet gives something different.

>> No.5443408

>>5443402
2 parts water to 1 part flour

Any serious answers? I'm currently using 1kg of flour to 750ml of water, 2l of water would be a batter.

>> No.5443441

>>5443352

You can. You just gotta let the mix sit on your windowsill for a few days first.

I know that, I want to know what proportions to use. The Internet is full of shit like 'cups' which doesn't make any sense.

The hydration doesn't matter as long as you're not using a leavening agent. You're more or less making play dough. It's unhealthy to eat and it tastes like nothing.

>> No.5443534

And pray tell, how does a cup weigh flour?

>> No.5443537

>>5443534
Approximately 1 pound.

>> No.5443538

>>5443534
Use the measurement on the cup when it asks for 1 cup. Or 1 and 1/2 cup. Not hard bud.

>> No.5443546

>>5443537
It's actually 4 ounces.

You can make pizza with just flour and water, but it'll take a day or two for the natural yeast to make the dough rise. You don't have baking powder/soda? If not you can just make unleavened flatbreads and add pizza toppings.

>> No.5443549

>>5443538
Flour is a solid. You weigh it, you don't measure it as a liquid. Its density varies. Is American education really that bad?

You don't pack your measuring cup hard then?

>> No.5443556

>>5443538
He's asking how to weigh flour with a measuring cup. Flour only has about half the weight of water by volume though, so you don't know what you're talking about. Bud.

Measuring flour with a measuring cup is also less precise because it won't always be packed to the same density. You need to weigh it, and most of the ingredients because small changes in hydration percentage can make the dough entirely different. Bud.

>> No.5443570

Try 8 ounces of flour with 6.4 ounces of water for a single pizza. This is what I use for a loaf of bread that's usually enough for 2-3 servings but it's higher hydration like pizza dough. Add a tablespoon of baking powder, a tablespoon or two of olive oil, and salt if you have it.

Get a measuring CUP. Fill it to one CUP. Weigh it then. Stupid fucking europoors.

1cup=1cup not fucking hard. ONE CUP...durr how much is that? One fucking cup autist.

>> No.5443598

>>5443584
Then what does the cup add to the process? Why not add the flour straight onto the scales and measure it properly in the first place?

Who the fuck told Americans to measure flour by volume? And use dumb, vague units like cups and ounces?

>> No.5443604

Look up recipe on internet.
See American measurements.

The cup IS a measurement.

the british

>> No.5443617

>>5443608
That doesn't matter, such measures are just for flavouring. The amount of flour in a dough is crucial. That's why recipes need to have proper measurements and not 'cup' because yanks can't understand numbers or units because their schools have no academic rigour, it's just about socialising and the football team.

Now look how you've made me ramble off topic when I just wanted to make a fucking pizza. This subforum is cancer.

actually the proportion of stuff like baking soda is pretty important, which is why it should be specified in grams but w/e

>Some crazy European can't eyeball measurements.
If your shit is a little dense you don't fill the cup up. If its a little puffy, you let it heap a bit. I don't even use many measuring tools. I use my silverware and a single measuring cup which I eyeball. My baking shit comes out delicious 99% of the time.

OP, it's really easy. So easy even a European can do it.

One cup is .00861 hectares.

I've been using 2 cups flour to 1 cup water but it's still really wet and sticky, so I think that's too much water. I just kinda guess and check until it's dry enough to work with, adding in more flour as needed.

jesus dude its 5 parts flour to 3 parts water

1 medium pie, 10oz flour 6 oz water then you can add a pinch of yeast, a pinch of salt , tablespoon oil, tablespoon sugar or any combo of those + any herbs you want(if you want)

Most recipes don't specify packed flour or not. Also depending on how much air is in your cup of flour and shit the amount of flour varies wildly. All real bakers weigh their shit you dumbfucks

But all home cooks don't own a scale, and personally, I've never even wanted one. I barely ever use my measuring cups and spoons as it is.
