Is it true that Australians believe fairy bread is an acceptable dessert for children?

It's party food for little kids. Americans may not realise that our bread isn't full of sugar so the only sweetness comes from the 100s & 1000s which are probably also less sweet than american versions. It's pretty pleb tier food that you only find in poor areas.

Another pleb party favorite is the sugar cupcake (I forget the real name) just boil sugar until golden and pour into cupcake papers to set.

no because they use golden sugar so they pour it out the moment it goes in the water, so we australians basically just serve kids handfuls of wet sugar.

Haha found it: toffee!

http://allrecipes.com.au/m/recipe/499/hard-toffee.aspx

I dont remember parents using butter or anything else it was just white sugar.

I also rember enjoying 'fags' the lolly cigarettes. The last few years they were around they made them without the red tip so they wouldn't look like cigarettes.

Oh and my mum used to sing me the uncensored version of 'eenie meenie miney moe' that's how fucking OG I am.

australia is a very young nation and was basically built by migrants from all over the world. as such our cuisine is basically just other cuisines sometimes mixed together. modern australian cuisine is just other cuisines well adapted to australian ingredients.

those ingredients are of great quality though. australia has incredible quality seafood, meat, fruit, vegetable, dairy, oliver oil, wines, etc.

Ive recently moved from southeast asia to Oceania. Australia/new zealand cuisine is extremely simple.

I miss the exotic flavors of southeast asia, but I am really glad that the quality of fresh foods here are so great. The fresh seafood and meat is especially exquisite.
