If you're ever near Cincinnati, check out Sebastian's. Best gyro I've ever had, and I've toured Greece. It's a little mom-and-pop. The Tzatziki will make you cry like a baby.

Second.

First time I had Checkers was when I moved to Indiana for college.

Burgers are pretty great/10, but the fries are fucking Omnipotent Jupiter-tier.

Found them at Wal-Mart the other day in the frozen section. Fried them in the fryers at work and god damn they were good, especially with Whataburger spicy ketchup.

I don't know how many Texans frequent this board, but I believe Whataburger may be in a few surrounding states.

Their burgers are fantastic, especially some of their more creative ones.

Shakes are great.

Fries are meh, unless you eat them in the restaurant.

But damn you if Whataburger Spicy Ketchup isn't God's own condiment.

Seriously the best thing to put on everything.

This Whataburger place sounds fantastic! Unfortunately, there aren't any in the Baltimore area...

It's good, but I'm also somewhat convinced that much of it has to do with regional pride (Texans are fairly proud people, amirite?).

I've lived outside of Texas for a while and visited quite a few states.

Whataburger isn't the best I've had (that's a smaller restaurant in Texas - though such places exist throughout the country). Whataburger is one of the best all around fast food restaurants I've ever had.

Every single one is open 24/7 (except for maybe the one in IAH). They do breakfast from 11PM-11AM - their breakfast is also awesomness. Their burgers are substantially better than national chains, and while they're a bit more expensive, you can still get a helluva meal for less than $8 if you're not going full diabetic.

Also, show me another chain that has begun selling their condiments in grocery stores. It's my belief that Heinz will pull out of Texas in the coming decade.

>>5409922
I'll shill all day and night for Whataburger, as would any proud Texan.

Lifelong Texan here.. Whataburger is so overrated. I'd much rather have a Braum's burger

Alabama dude here, and whataburger is the only not-shit fast food place in my city.

Oh, you're right, and I have seen it in stores before too - my bad.

>>5410026
Whataburger is over rated, as I mentioned - it's a nationalism thing.

However, it's genuinely a good burger. Not nearly the best, but a damn good burger that you can get at 3:30AM any day of the week for $9.02 with a large fry and over a quart of soda.

Also, Braum's has no fucking spicy ketchup.

>> No.5410035

their ketchup is the only thing that stands out to me.. all of their food is bland and salty. I don't know many other Texans that shill for it.. its usually an expensive drunk resort late at night. The best thing on the menu is the chicken fajita taco and that thing is super overpriced.

>> No.5410042

>>5410034

dude the braums crinkle cuts with their ketchup sprinkled with black pepper... come on now

>> No.5410059

>>5410042
I do this (just in general), but without unscrewing the pepper shaker and dumping it onto the ketchup, I cannot achieve the same effect.

Maybe my tolerance to spicy is just fucked.

Believe me, I've considered bringing spicy ketchup with me to several restaurants. Still need to bring some to fucking Wafflehouse and try it on their loaded hashbrowns. Shit would be SO cash.

Meh, fair enough.

My boss is a professional fatman and I'm an amateur. We have favorite burger places that range from hole-in-the-wall to well established local eateries. However we both agree that Whataburger is awesome as fuck.

To be honest, I've never met anyone that outright dislikes Whataburger.

I outright hate Austin, it's the cancer that is killing Texas. It's cool to visit, but I get mad most of the time I go there, then start cooling down when I make the awesome drive back on 290 (well, it's awesome after you get well outside of Austin).

Awhile back I ate at some BBQ place close to the UT campus and realized real quick how out of place I was in my boots and camo hat. A Texan shouldn't feel out of place in Austin. My friend there swears up and down that its a republican city but I call total bullshit. However, I am a huge fan of the river float scene in around new braunfels. Good times down there.

Agreed. Dat's some good shit right there, tell you what.

>realized real quick how out of place I was in my boots and camo hat
Yeah, it's a shitty feeling. I apparently dress like a cowboy (wrangler cowboy cuts, either straight up cowboy boots or pull on work boots, tucked in button up with sleeves rolled up, and a belt with a Marlboro or Shiner Beer belt buckle). Walking down 6th street in Austin reminds me of walking down Haight in San Francisco (my brother goes to school there, have been a few times). Douchebags and wastrels everywhere. No one walking with any urgency. I'm not a violent person - I've never been in a fight in my life. But when I'm in Austin I feel like pleading guilty to an assault charge might be worth it sometimes.

As I said, it's a great place for a day trip, but I try to avoid having to lay my head down to rest in that city.

There's awesome BBQ in Lulling. The Stubs BBQ place in Austin is awesomeness, though.

I still think it was funny when that group of a dozen Austin college students came to Houston to protest the NRA convention. I fucking called it that they were out-of-town college students when they first started talking about it on NPR.

We ain't even that bad in Houston and we've got an openly gay mayor.
