Mother's Day is coming up. I'm planning on making banana nut french toast (http://www.delish.com/recipefinder/syrupy-banana-nut-overnight-french-toast-1006)) but looking for ideas for savory dishes as well since my mom's not a dessert person.

you're really mean! you made me google it, fucker! OP, nothing wrong with a well executed eggs benedict or one of the variants (like eggs neptune over a crab cake instead of an english muffin)

What does your Mom like? Hard to give idea if we don't know what your Mom's tastes are.

She's a Chinese woman who likes to try Western food. I once made a basic lasagna and she raved about it. Same with cheesecakes. She doesn't really enjoy western sweets since they're too sweet for her.

Oh and she's one of those people that has to have everything cooked. Makes sense when you grow up on a farm with manure and shitty water, although a little annoying when she makes steak.
