Remind me again what the point of a sandwich like this is? Can you even eat it as a sandwich?

it's just for simpletons who want to feel manly because they eat a lot of meat

>> No.5388118

You're supposed to get some more bread and split everything with at least one other person.

>> No.5388128

Americans always put too much meat on their sandwiches. Even when it's not to that extreme, they put five or six slices on. Two slices is the most you will ever need of any sort of luncheon meat.

>> No.5388146

>>5388128
you're an idiot. also, i agree to some extent. but it all depends on the type of sandwich, its about the bread ratio. if it's something like typical sliced bread, then yeah i find a couple slices is all i need combined with the other ingredients (i usually have lettuce, tomato, peppers, and cheese on my sandwich i never eat simply meat and bread) however if its something like a hoagie or submarine bun, you put more meat on it since the bread is so much thicker.

>> No.5388149

>>5388146
No you don't, because those sorts of bread are narrower and you can just fold the same slice over on itself to get a reasonable thickness.

>> No.5388150

>>5388105
remind me again what the point of complaining about it is? thats no different than eating a meal that consists mostly of meat and having bread on the side, its just put together as opposed to on seperate plates. who cares who calls it a "sandwich" or not you nitpicky autist.

>> No.5388151

>>5388146
Definitely solid logic. Ratios are more important than raw weights.

>> No.5388155

>>5388149
its still....more bread. it's not about thickness, it's about having the right ratio of bread and meat. a sub bun is easily two or three times thicker than a piece of normally sliced bread, folding the meat might give the impression that its thicker but it doesn't actually add more....do you math?

>>5388128
Brit detected. more meat is a good thing, it means more protein and delicious meaty flavor. you shouldn't go overboard like in OP's pic but the ideal sandwich has at least as much filling as bread, and meat and cheese should be your primary fillers

The Baguettes they use are way too hard, the bread needs to be yielding and soft to taste the flavour, the rough bread just muddles the taste and makes it a chore to eat and taste as the hard bits crunch around in your mouth and keeping jutting into the rooftops.

Not necessary. I'm a meateater but I can say that Jimmy John' veggie club is one of the best sandwiches I've had (up until they ditched the sprouts, wtf), and there's not a scrap of meat in it. There's provolone but not very much of it.

in your pictures, there's a poverty level of char siu tucked in the side while the cheap fucking chinaman who made the sandwich stuffed it with way too many vegetables. the key to banh mi is a balance of all five flavors, and that means no overwhelming amount of do chua

pic is a proper amount of meat

there are 8 slices!!

80 calories per slice and... yeah, the veggie club is undoubtedly one of the most unhealthy sandwiches on the menu.

and... sprouts are back. they're optional though, ask for them.

for cheese that's actually not bad

also no one's making you eat the whole sandwich at once

sorry to jump in here, but in my experience people who say "I don't like exercise" don't actually exercise. they get dressed up in exercise clothes and talk on the phone with the treadmill on 4 mph for 45 minutes, then they bitch about how they can't have {insert food} because they're on a diet.

Do you have any familiarity with the physical world whatsoever? If you fold the meat, it's might be thicker, but it's going to cover less area, because you fucking folded it. It doesn't magically get thicker without getting smaller in another dimension. Thus, you'll need more slices of meat, rendering your point moot. Do the laws of physics work different in Yurop?

So that's why it was almost impossible to get crunchy bread in the US.

>> No.5388306

Tastiest banh mi I've had used a kind of Vietnamese version of a baguette which was a bit lighter and less aggressively crusty, worked wonders. Oh, and spiced pate too, got to have that liver flavour. Vegetables need to be lightly pickled for that sweet contrast, and herbs provide that aromatic contrast. My bout waters just thinking about it.

i can see that, however i also think it's hilarious when typically wimpy guys use "forced masculinity" as a way to insult guys who just are like normal guys, it goes both ways. it's like if you were to say somebody only plays sports because they want to be manly, simply because you feel un manly because you don't.
