Yea, technically I wouldn't entirely consider that Chinese, kind of the realm of Americanized, though delicious, I'd prefer an orange chicken or beef over the less flavorful sugary sauce only.

I love a steamed dumpling, so any real dim sum or bao or pork buns best of all. I like Taiwanese pork stock soups.

The frozen Tyson and other brands are making pretty good freezer bags of Tso's. Crispy (white meat) nugget pieces you bake in the oven, and then douse in the included sauce packet. I'm not recommending it, but I'll say it's not only healthier, but it's probably crispier than the stuff you're getting (if getting takeout).

Kikkoman makes a 'thai red chili sauce" in a jar, that is spot-on the general tsao's sauce, only more peppery. It's about $3, bleh, but you can also read the ingredient label and see that it's like 5 ingredients, mostly soy, chili paste and sugar.

>What do you guys think of Chinese buffets?

I nearly won't go to one at all any more. If I do, I show up very soon after they open and keep an eye on what they are doing while I eat.

I don't know why, but Chinese buffets seem to be the most likely to cut corners on any and all health issues if they pay any attention to those at all.

In addition, I used to know a former restaurant inspector here in Texas.

He told me that of all the restaurants, the one kind he categorically refuses to eat in under any circumstances is Chinese restaurants. And that is all because of what he saw when he was a restaurant inspector. As far as he was concerned, every Chinese restaurant of any type was a treasure trove of serious health violations.
