For those of you with AeroPress's, ok, so I am doing the 'inverted' method, but one thing I'm not clear on --- do you stop pressing when you hear the hiss, or press all the way 'til the bottom?

No thoughts?

Accidentally smashed my fresh press, thinking of getting an Aeropress. How do they compare in terms of coffee quality and cleanup required?

I press until I can't press anymore without breaking the cap. You'll get a firmer "puck" this way

My french press broke and I bought myself an aeropress. The biggest difference I've found is that now I brew 2oz espressos vs 1litre of coffee.

You can hear something on paper? wut?

On paper you should stop pressing when you hear the hiss, as this makes the coffee less acidic. However I often press the plunger home as personally I prefer the taste and the aesthetic look of the coffee with the tiny bit of crema at the top.

Just remember, what's so fun about aeropress, french press etc. is that you can DO WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANNA DO. One morning make coffee with the hiss and one without, and see which you prefer.

I don't actually use an aeropress any more, I am simply speaking from experience.

These days I carry around an IV with Rwanda Kigoma Red Bourbon in it. It is constantly topped up by my personal barista Alex while I go about my daily activities. A nurse once tried to remove the IV in order to perform a routine medical procedure; I immediately spat in her face and called her mother a whore. The next day I discovered her e-mail an sent her a link to this board. She did no reply.

But yeah anyway coffee is pretty nice drink it and shit.

I stop at hissing.

I find the brew gets too bitter if you press everything out.
